The first vacancy bid for IAD may go junior, due to commuting nightmares in Washington DC Airports. Super Seniority/Bypass will not be used, and is not allowed when awarding positions in a different domicile, per section 24.G.7b, and Definitions section on page 13 of the current contract. The restriction of "Bypass" usage by the company pertains to the definition of "position", which includes a pilot's category and domicile. Since no pilots were displaced in IAD and there are no vacancies in ATL, it can't be used. Atlanta may be bad, but D.C. is probably far worse, and that stupid ass Obama lives there as well...
The cost of living in the Washington DC area is about 40% higher than Atlanta. So it's basically bidding for a pay cut...
If you don't stop convincing people not to bid IAD you're really going to p!ss me off.
IAD is the bomb.com, folks.
Isn't that what the SWA pilots did in effect? Didn't they undercut the competition?
You will be competing with paying passengers when snow, ice, and poor weather move in...Curious, how is the DC airports a commuting nightmare compared to ATL? Especially for the DFW and Florida folks who don't have to compete with the hundreds if not thousands for Mainline pilots and FAs trying to get to ATL
Why do you want people to bid IAD? Why do you want pilots to be miserable? Do you work for scheduling or something? If you don't stop convincing people not to bid IAD you're really going to p!ss me off.

If you think IAD will be a good base, then best wishes to you. It may be fine. Be careful though. You may be stuck there for a while...I'm thinkin sunlitpath lives in DC and doesnt want people senior to him/her bidding over![]()
I do not personally care if it goes senior or junior. I am just concerned about the quality of life issues that may exist there. I am going to wait and see how it goes on the upcoming bid. If it goes well and pilots report positive experiences at IAD, I will consider it on the second bid in March. If they displace from the bottom, who would that help?

That's not my plan, but it may be on the next bid in march.Sunlitpath-didn't you bid back to FO when the last displacements happened so you could have weekends off? Are you hoping it goes Jr so you can be capt. with weekends off up there? Cause I don't think that'll happen.
A ORD base would be great. Are you Skywest guys going to get your panties in a bundle if this happens?
No problem with that at all! Glad to see some good news on the ACEY side of the house.
There are 60 recently displaced, fully qualified captains who may be interested.
Kiss my ass. Go ahead and bid it, you little twirp...So this doesn't include you until maybe, maybe not March?
BS dude. Stop spreading you're SELFISH propaganda. It's got a real pathetic appearance about it.
Kiss my ass. Go ahead and bid it, you little twirp...
Yes, you got me. I am Bo, the whitehouse portuguese water dog. I can't stand to be away from my master and saviour, the lord Barry Obama. Please don't bid IAD. It will interfere with the bestiality relations I have fostered with my true love, Barry O.don't hype it up as a bad place..we know you are from there
Kiss my ass. Go ahead and bid it, you little twirp...
One (1)not hard to figure out who you are-how many capts bid back to FO voluntarily?

It appears that you have an interest in ensuring that the bid goes senior. My guess is that you a junior captain on reserve. If senior pilots bid IAD, then you get off reserve. I don't blame you Mr. Spunkmeyer for wanting to get off reserve. In fact, I support your efforts. Nothing would please me more than seeing senior ASA pilots suffer an ill fate in a Godforsaken base like IAD. These career locked stooges could enjoy all the trappings of a 2 hour car trip to travel 8 miles, gray skies from October until March. $1000 studio apartments, 2 day strandings to get on a flight, race relations that go back to the late 1960's. It will be nice. Since they do not make $200,000 a year they will be treated like janitors. Please, please, please bid IAD...If you don't stop convincing people not to bid IAD you're really going to p!ss me off.

I am not talking about that dopey btch. It's a guy. Go back and look at the last award. He is a good dude. He just got sick of reserve. She pulled her bid and then a year COMA.
