ASA IAD base confirmed: Senior?

The cost of living in the Washington DC area is about 40% higher than Atlanta. So it's basically bidding for a pay cut...

Curious, how is the DC airports a commuting nightmare compared to ATL? Especially for the DFW and Florida folks who don't have to compete with the hundreds if not thousands for Mainline pilots and FAs trying to get to ATL
 
I know a guy that commutes to DC with no problem at all. Why do you think it's such a nightmare??

Yes, but the SWA pilots aren't:
-Scabs.
-Didn't try to sue anyone to get what they couldn't.
-Didn't try to steal anyone elses flying through a frivilous lawsuit.

Can you say the same?

They did, however, much like yourself, pay for training!

You will be competing with paying passengers when snow, ice, and poor weather move in...

I do not personally care if it goes senior or junior. I am just concerned about the quality of life issues that may exist there. I am going to wait and see how it goes on the upcoming bid. If it goes well and pilots report positive experiences at IAD, I will consider it on the second bid in March.

So let the junior guys be the guinea pigs and then if it's not as bad as you thought you can swoop in and do your thing?

Do you have anything specific or are you just speculating that it will be an awful base?

Sunlitpath-didn't you bid back to FO when the last displacements happened so you could have weekends off? Are you hoping it goes Jr so you can be capt. with weekends off up there? Cause I don't think that'll happen.

It appears that you have an interest in ensuring that the bid goes senior. My guess is that you a junior captain on reserve. If senior pilots bid IAD, then you get off reserve. I don't blame you Mr. Spunkmeyer for wanting to get off reserve. In fact, I support your efforts. Nothing would please me more than seeing senior ASA pilots suffer an ill fate in a Godforsaken base like IAD. These career locked stooges could enjoy all the trappings of a 2 hour car trip to travel 8 miles, gray skies from October until March. $1000 studio apartments, 2 day strandings to get on a flight, race relations that go back to the late 1960's. It will be nice. Since they do not make $200,000 a year they will be treated like janitors. Please, please, please bid IAD...

But yes, I do hope for it to go senior. Two reasons... 1)So the rest of the company can finally make a move in the right direction.. 2) so your little "bidgate" scandal fails utterly.
