That was to allow for bidding back and forth. There really weren't any slots. That simply allowed for someone to go to IAD without having to do a swap.

Does everyone understand that the 25% reserve staffing is another back door attack on our contract. The more on reserve the more people they can do what ever they want too them. More ready reserve staff, easier to extend(you have to call to get released), move days off, make 5-6 day trips. This is another hole that has to be plugged. What is the amount of open time they are holding back? More than the contract allows I'll bet, but where is our union on this? They will keep pulling the wool over our eyes a little at a time so we only bitch a little bit and pretty soon it will be 40-50% on reserve.

I agree we get what we deserve. 50% reserve staffing would make the company very happy. No cancellation pay, involuntary TDY blah, blah, blah

If the company is providing the ASC the total scheduled block hours (per contract)
and
The company provides the number of block hours withheld (per contract)
and
The ASC is provided with a list of the actual trips withheld (per contract)

And they're saying they're 'uncertain' about what the company is withholding, with all this information available, then something is profoundly wrong.

is it:
They're not holding the company's feet to the fire to provide the required info?

They know the numbers but are complicit with allowing the company to withhold inappropriately?

Or are they just not bothering to ask?

Guarantee it is the last option! I can't even imagine that they check, ask or demand to know! My faith in this Union MEC and officers, especially the scheduling and hotel committee's is non-existent!

I can't even remember the last time the Union did something in favor of the pilots.

I did. Multiple times. And each time, I never even received a phone call from anyone in the MEC to discuss. Once I was told they already had enough people in the committee. I have numerous times volunteered for the hotel committee, and at other times the ACC and the scheduling committee.

So, my tries to help be part of the solution and help work for my fellow pilots was met with rude silence.

Years ago, I complained about the lack of communication from the union. I was asked "why don't you step up and volunteer instead of complaining?"

I answered "I'd be happy to! what can I do to help?"

I was told THEN AND THERE "Well, we don't have any available spots on that committee"
