Interesting, but I wondering if they taught grammar at Auburn? Toss in a comma here or there. Paragraphs work well, too!

I thought about it. However, I concluded that it would have been in bad FI fashion. I don't want to stand out too much from the pack.

At least he's now capitalizing a few letters here and there. One thing at a time. After all, Auburn doesn't require language classes for a horticulture/ cow breeding degree.

Stay out 330 days in a 12 month rolling period and you will be good. Try to sneak home a lot and not so good. Or stay out one calendar year. Rent an apartment or villa for a year and that will ice the deal.

No, half the class walked out after the company never paid per diem each week after always promising the check "next week" and then they canceled paying everyone while in training as they originally had promised and said no one would get paid until after IOE because that was considered training as well, then decided after ground school was over that they would surprise everyone by making us sign an 18 month 20K contract. Also, the local FAA guy was telling everyone in private to watch our backs on the line cause they were watching every move the company was making. That was a surprise to everyone. So half the guys including me said see ya. Then they offered to flat out pay for all my training to try to get me to stay because I had already finished the ground school and was already there I guess (they originally were going to require me to pay for the type) but I still said I wasn't interested. I wasn't leaving because of money. So I left, some of the other guys did change their mind after leaving and they let them come back and take the check ride. They are flying there now... One guy that didn't come back sued the company and another got an offer to go to Virgin. The whole ordeal was a strange couple weeks but afterwords I went door to door to every operator in south florida passing out resumes and i came up with a flight instructing job at one of these schools with all the south american students. Also got got an interview and was put in a hiring pool at another airline. They estimated training in the spring but so far nothing......

What company was this?

do about 2 pages of research in the charter forums and you'll see. it's in miami... by the way, i got to meet a great group of pilots who used to fly for midwest express until they got screwed. if you ever meet a midwest pilot, buy him a beer.

oh, and i can't deny the cow breeding jokes... i once called a friend of mine and she didn't answer. when she called me back she said sorry cause she had her arm up the wrong end of a cow. (is there a right end?)

It is interesting the difference in search results when doing a google image search using the following key words: Alabama or Auburn, and redneck.

Ladies & Gents,

Just browsing the old forum for the first time in years and came across this topic.

Having lived in Asia and been to Vietnam - I can tell you unequivocally to jump at this opportunity if you can make it work.

Vietnam is an unbelieveable experience. If you are the kind of person that is not afraid of grabbing life and its offerings - then how can you say no. The beaches are the best I have ever been on, the food & beer is crazy cheap once you figure out the spots, and the girls ..... well, enough said, should cover it.

As a bona fide overseas resident (which you will be) you will not pay any
taxes on your first $92.5k. Additionally your housing allowance is not treated as income as there is a foreign housing allowance given by the IRS (check form 2555).

The experience and comaraderie you will develop will form a part of your great memories of life.

As an aside the people in Ho Chi Minh in the south seem to be a warmer bunch than the north but Hanoi is not an issue.

Good luck, dont look back ,....and remember when you are having your sundowners cocktail in the Saigon-Saigon bar on the 10th floor of the Hotel Caravelle in Hanoi, where the view inside and out is a ten...just think of the boys back home schleppin their way to Evansville or the Golden Triangle...and you may never return.

Respectfully,

fv

I can second the "you may never return" comment.

I went to Subic Bay (The Philippines), by choice, as a new hire with FedEx. Stayed there 3 years, and jumpseated and laid over (and just "laid") SE Asia, including HMC and Hanoi. When Subic closed, I accepted a much worse expat deal by going to our Hong Kong base, just because I want to permanently stay in SE Asia.

Hanoi is fair, HMC (or call it Saigon if you're older) is better, The PI is damn decent, and Thailand is the greatest country on Earth for a single, Western guy.

No wife / No kids? GO. Yeah, you're offer is substandard compared to other contract jobs (see Parc, Rishworth, and HACS). But you'll have some serious fun.

You'll probably never want to come back to the States; I sure don't.

I'm confused I've never even seen this site..I filled out the initial interest form and haven't heard back yet. Is this a different form I was supposed to fill out?

That's the same site for the form, but the form is no longer available.

"No more responses are permitted for this survey."

Look like its not a done deal yet.. Just listening to the Q1 call.. they said nothing in stone yet...

Dang I never thought of that. That is a great drinking game. I will now have to practice and get ready for 2nd qtr.

Yup.. That usually last a good 30 minutes 'til the Q & A portion. Then you have to switch to taking a shot every time some bimbo calls in and embarrasses herself with a question about the "china" flying or something else way over her head. Finish the bottle if her cell phone goes off mid-sentence and leaves her scrambling to remember what the hell she was saying in the first place. I'm wasted after that call.. Have fun!
