Privilege?

Working to 65 is the law. If a pilot is qualified, healthy and passes the check ride why not?

Pretty pathetic to see you gloating over the misfortune of others.

A 40 year old rule gets changed in a way that creates an enormous windfall to a very few, and someone like you doesn't feel privileged?

And you're calling this a "misfortune"!? At what point do you think an irline pilot should take responsibilty for something like this?

And they discriminated against minorities, and women, too.

So, no more age discrimination, either. There should be no age limit
if you can pass your physical.

And they changed that law against slavery, too.
Apparently you have a problem with "Equal Rights"

You would have been a great KKK member or Nazi!

In the Constitution it states you have to be at least 35 years old to run for US President. Isn't that age discrimination?

Bye Bye---General Lee

Wow, that's real brilliant stuff there Kwick...

Let's stow the how/why of the change for a sec (because it's been talked about enough), and just talk about the effects and what we are left with today. Where is the appreciation for the rule change? Is anybody going to admit they feel lucky AND freely admit they are ready to pass it on at age 65? Any of you ready to see someone else take a turn?

And seriously, somewhere there has to be a cutoff for who's pension loss was a "misfortune" and who's was not.

You can only serve two terms as President, eight years, so whether you start the job at 35 or 55, the law isn't forcing you to retire at a certain age.

But you can't get "hired" at 32. That is age discrimination. You are only talking about retirement, not me. You probably think there should be 70 year old firemen too, right? Let them go until they can't carry you out of a burning building anymore. There should be mandatory retirement ages for certain jobs, and airline pilot is one of them.

I have to agree with the General on this one!

There is no place to put a walker on an MD88 :O

As long as you can pass the physical, which hopefully means that you
don't have to be carried to the airplane, the flying public deserves
the best ,most experienced pilots.

You had the chance to make that sort of change, and instead you welcomed a change that simply pulled the ladder up. Guess what? You walk into a Congressperson's office with that kind of thesis, they're not only going to laugh your a$$ out of their office, they're going to question the wisdom of raising the age in the first place.

You are a moron....
