I am looking at not having to commute. Yes, I'd like to upgrade in a timely manner, but my nymber 1 goal is to end commuting. The flow thru is something I would not be counting on at all. It might happen, but I've seen most turn to nothing.

True, the one's who did flow up were entitled to seniority numbers at mainline. however, many PDTer's, ALGer's, and PSAer's who had stuck around were left in the dust when midatlntc was sold.

You're right, to finally not have to commute is like winning the airline lottery.

Thanks for hijacking my thread....So, has anyone heard???

The Mid-Atlantic/Flow-up, flow down crap has been beaten to death.....

I wouldn't look too hard into the flow thru agreement that compass has with northwest. look at what happened to midatlantic and the wholly owned's like psa, pdt, and alg. when midatlantic was sold, so was the flow thru. midatlantic was created in bankruptcy by the same CFO (neil cohen) with almost the same type and number of airplanes. It was then sold off to generate a huge dollar amount to help with usair's bankruptcy funding. ask anyone left at PSA or PDT about that one and they'll tell ya they got the shaft(especially psa). no more midatlantic, no more flow through. although compass is a good choice for some individuals now (high time f.o., or low seniority ca), i wouldn't hold my breathe waiting for a flow up. it's merely a selling point to acquire high time people to fill their captain needs.
has anyone addressed the idea there as to what would happen to the flow thru per chance that compass is sold? would it still be honored? i can just see it now, a bunch of compass guys banging on nwa's door saying let us in, and nwa saying not anymore! This would probably be my number question in the interview.
If nwa was smart they would just start assigning seniority numbers now. that way there won't be any confusion when compass and mesaba are both sold off for profit in the next few years.
Like I said, Compass would be a good idea for someone to upgrade relatively soon, or who is a junior ca, but don't sell the farm based on the flow up. just my $.02

I agree that flow throughs are notrious for not working, however, since I'm an optimistic guy and not banking on the flow, there is pilot recruiting challenge in the industry. Many will say not at the legacy's...but since many of the ASM's are flown by the regionals - the legacy has a vested interest in making sure the recruiting cycle works. In this case, since NW wholly owns XJ and CP, they have a huge interest in their sucess (they probably don't care much about 9E anymore).

The difference with CP and Mid Atlantic is that US Air went into Bankruptcy whereas NW just came out of bankruptcy. I'd look at this situation with CP more of like 9E where NW took them public and cashed out that way, but 9E contintued to be a going concern.

In terms of flow if CP is sold off, I think I remember reading the flow and flow back would have to be honored..but yeah, I agree with you...good luck to anyone that is banking on that one.

And it's not a hijacked thread its the evolution of the thread.

I've heard it generally takes between 1-4 weeks to hear back from Compass and when you do, it's by e-mail first.

Good Luck.

For those who have interviewed...

What did the sim ride consist of? I've been flying glass for the past three years and don't want to screw up the sim, can someone with a similar disposition relate their experience? Are the questions from the knowledge test from the ATP knowledge test? Any other insight would be appreciated. PM me if you don't want your post public.

Aren't ex-Midatlantic pilots being offered class dates at U.S. Airways mainline now? I thought they were part of the CEL (combined eligibility list).

I think the flow through at Compass will work. Mostly because of what I have been told by higher ups at NWA.

It will work, but can you give me a name of a single NWA pilot that is happy right now?

To answer the original question I Interviewed the morning of the 10th, flew home and had an email waiting for me the same evening.
As far as the interview itself , pretty good experience overall. Their was one other person with me, and we split up he went to the sim and I went to the board interview. Pretty standard questions, you have a dirtbag FO always late never follows SOP, What do you do? Sick flight attendant #2 for T/O what do you do? Sim ride not bad old 727 sim motion off visuals off turns descents enter a hold basic Instrument stuff. ATP test 75 question right out of the book, no calculation questions.
Hope that helps.

Hi!

3 guys at my airline went back to NWA. If our job was better, they would've stayed. One guy was furloughed twice and went back twice.

Note:
I'm sure they all think UPS/FedEx would be better than NWA.
