Strong rumor says the next 747 should arrive around October or so...Then the 5th later in the fall.....We shall see.

Got the latest seniority list today.

No 747 capts hired off the street.
Upgrades from within should be coming soon now that the FOs have some time on the airplane.

Some A-300 guys have also trasffered to the whale.

Flywrite, a belated welcome aboard. How's training going? I'll be in MIA on June 10 and 11 if you would like to visit. CYS, are you going to be around?

Hi Busman.

Nah, won't be around then.
Going over to Korea in a few days.
Flying the Pacific system for a couple of weeks.

Just got home from Africa, spent 15 days over there flying into Lagos.
If I never see that place again, it will be too soon.

Thanks!

I was planning on being in MIA next weekend, but sim has been delayed again. I finished ground school about a month ago and have had my sim schedule changed twice since then. As of now I go to MIA in about two weeks. At least we get training pay to sit at home, so I cant complain too much!

If you dont mind a couple of questions, how do you like the company? and any good rumors for those of us who have been out of the loop for a month?

Flywrite,

I am perfectly happy here. The money is decent, I love flying the Bus, 30 on and 30 off is great, and flying in China is, shall we say challenging. I talked to scheduling yesterday, and it looks like some of the Ft. Wayne flying has been delayed until Sept. so they are moving another airplane to China on the 20th. So it might be a good idea to brush up on your Mandarin. You will probably do you IOE in BQN. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that, especially if you golf or dive. We stay in the Monarch Plaza, Taoyuan, in Taipei, and the Hyatt in Macau. I personally prefer Taipei.
They try to schedule us for 3-4 on and 1 off, but like I’m sure you were told, the key here is remain flexible. At one time last month I was checked in to 3 hotels. All our legs either start of finish in Macau. Our only destinations right now are Pudong (Shanghai) Xiamen, Taipei and Macau. Four legs a day is the norm and about half the flying is during the day. Since all the trips are the same, seniority dosn’t really mean anything, and everyone usually gets Saturday off, Our maintenance crews are good and hard working. But we do run these old airplanes pretty hard so you can expect a few MEL’s. If you have any specific questions let me know.

T.

CYS, sorry I'll miss you, have fun in Korea.

T.

Do ya know how many will be in yer class?

747 flying is down a bit as we have 2 planes in the hospital for D checks.

The remaining 2 are flying hard..One on the Pacific and one in Africa.
Needless to say, Africa goes junior...Serious pain in the arse flying over there.

My last trip was 4 legs, total of 14.5 hours block time and 27 hours on duty.
Not for the faint of heart....
