Hey, I only put my hand on the gear lever 20 out as an aid to help me remember to make sure it goes down. Plus, it may help prompt my FO in case he forgot to put it down.

It's just a non-verbal que to the other guy of what I'm thinking about and a polite way to suggest what he should be thinking about. I've never actually forgotten the gear, mind you, and neither has my FO. I also know there are many systems to keep me from forgetting the gear. But it still seems like a good practice.

As a plus it helps my co-pilots identify me as a tool, because my barking about being standard while I fly my own personal procedures might not have been enough of a clue.

I award you for you honesty and understand your reasoning. But for every action there is an opposite reaction. I am assuming you are a Captain. Yes, having the gear down is important and yes we do have many, many backups in helping us remember to put the gear down. But with you putting your hand on either the gear handle or flap handle when the FO has not called for it makes that person feel like you are micro-managing which can lead to different problems down the road. It slowly creates anymosity and slowly but surely the FO will no longer have your back.

So you might be thinking, well it is my darn airplane I want the FO to fly it how I want it flown. True statement, but then why don't you just fly every single leg and let the FO do all the pilot monitoring duties.

Um, pretty sure he was being sarcastic. At least I hope he was.

-Guys who have to touch their greasy McDonald's fingers to the FMS/MFD screens. WTF? Did nobody tell you they weren't touch screens you tards?

-Clicking the Yaw Damp off with the Autopilot at 20 miles out. You realize we have a yaw dampener for a reason right? If you don't know how to turn the YD off by itself, I'll show you.

- Clear and a million visual approach and Bobo here has to aim for the ILS final approach fix because after 1000 approaches, he still can't fly a visual that doesn't include a 5 mile final.

- Clear and a million visual and Bobo has to be fully configured and at final speed 2000AGL.

-Fly fast all flight only to fly the slowest go# d@mn final...Drop the full flaps right before 1000' and then you're configured in time. We don't need that crap at 2000'.

Maybe some day you will explore the finer things. I always buy my own though.

Here's a piece of wisdom that will endear you to new people that you fly with. When offered a coffee, say "thanks" and take it black (you'll even get a pass for cream and sugar.) When you're old enough to be let into a bar on an overnight, resist the temptation to order an appletini and get a domestic beer. Follow these simple rules and you may have a chance of not being seen as a pretentious prick.

Ground, CrappyRegional Flight 3456 is number 4 in sequence at spot 2. Call when you're number one idiot.

Clicking the A/P Disconnect button 500 times when psyching yourself up to hand fly the aircraft. Once, maybe twice. No more. Idiot.

Why does, or why would anybody disengage the YD? I've never seen this done, ever! What a/c are you talking about for those that listed that one?

When people whistle with the hot mic on.

I also hate when people respond to an 'affirmative' or 'negative' question with 'roger.'

Spacing out when doing a checklist. Sometimes I think they are having a stroke they are so out of it.
