In this information age, if you don't thoroughly research the company you're looking to get on with, then you get what you deserve. On the flip side, you could do your homework make what you think is the best decision, sign the contract and then have them pull a horsesh*t maneuver like changing the schedule to 5/2 12/2. That being said, most of the previous exoduses have been due to one company hiring a bunch of guys. Flex back in the 90's which made these training agreements come to life and Options took a whole raft of guys about five, six years ago. Every pilot has their reasons for wanting to leave or stay and tough it out. All those other things aside, the largest impetus of these last departures has been one person. Who, might you ask? Tom? nope.....Teak? you might think.... Stacey? uh-uh....Gourley? probably(just kidding Tom). That would be the crew scheduler Jacob. Time and again he was cited in exit interviews as being a severe problem to pilot morale. When the chief pilot for your 121 operation lists him as one of the main reasons for his departure, why would they continue to turn a blind eye to the problem. So then the question begs as to why management would keep him on at the risk of losing pilot assets? I wish I could answer that one. This attitude of indifference by management to such a glaring problem can be traced back to the core problems that faces Ameristar. You are correct,,,,, But the only thing you left out is WHY all those guys left. Not to often you lose BOTH Chief pilots in the same month. Then 4 captains, 2 f/o's and god knows how many more.
I am curious to see what you have to say on that. I am sure you know it was because they were all treated poorly. As is everyone at Ameristar.
Also the pilots who have recently left have gone to 6 or more different places.
And it is no secret that if you work there you are a fool if you are not looking for another job
As far as them changing work rules after they hire na bunch of people. Yes that is what they do,,,, False promises and more days to work for no extra money.
Agreed. As a company they must know by now that they have screwed up royally when out of the 14 new hires since 1/06 only 2 have upgraded, only 1 served out the full 18 months and 7 have left before the contract expired with more to follow. I know most of the remaining F/O's dont plan on upgrading either.
So we can all be like USAJet pilots? How could that make anything better? Let's leave JUS out of this and just keep it an Ameristar bashing thread.Maybe if the rest of the industry followed us, this problem would not be as bad.
Ive got a better figure for you. since 9/06 the 135 side has lost 35 pilots 33 by choice 2 by fate, RIP TP&DH. not counting 2 more Cpt's who have jobs that haven't turned in their notice yet. When a company chooses to run pilots off by implementing stupid policies, schedule changes, and a "CockSucker" of a crew scheduler they deserve to lose everyone. The same problems are now being faced on the 121 side. I gave a 3 week notice but thanks to Jacob I realized I didn't need anymore ******************** and quit. My new company paid me the from time i quit early until my original class date!! I'm still fighting with Fleet to get my last check and Amex paid. I heard they found 14 guys to come work there on the 135 and 121 side. Hopefully they have life insurance and a really loose butthole![]()
On the 121 side it won't take long for the new Chief Pilot to show his true self,,,,
First of all,,,, PilotYip get a clue,,,,, USAJET is a countryclub compared to Ameristar,,,,,
This is just the start of a long miserable 18 months for anyone who goes to AMERISTAR,,,, and they will always find suckers,,,, Their M.O. is to tell people it is hard but if you work your nuts off and sacrifice your life you will make lots of money,,,, or build lots of time,,,,, They even tell you that they are not the problem it is always the past employees who we bad employees,,,, So if that is the truth then they never had any good employees.... either way they are Idiots,,,
What a bunch of crap,, More like the more you work and the better job you do the more they will screw you when you leave,,,,,
The AMEX thing,,,, THAT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE,,,,, It is the worst feeling in the world to work you ass off for a company, be honest and responsible with a credit card and then when you try to leave you get SCREWED because they don't want to pay an AMEX bill that you needed your personal credit to get,,,,,
It seems like EVERYONE who leaves there always ends up getting screwed for about $1000.00 or more in one way or another,,, that is if they are lucky enough to not get sued...
The big thing is they use the multiple contracts you have to sign to keep employees instead of fixing the problems,,,,,
And people wonder why everyone leaves or hates that place,,,,
On the 121 side it won't take long for the new Chief Pilot to show his true self,,,,
As far as the lying in crew scheduling,,,,, The whole company is full of lies and deceit.....
Maybe someday TW will figure out how much $$$$$$$$$ that little fagot has cost him,,,,,
If anyone reads this they could only do their friends favor and tell people to NEVER work their...
The new chief pilot is actually the old chief pilot after the last chief pilot was the new chief pilot so how is the new chief pilot going to show his true self if he is really the old chief pilot? thus, if you did not know that the new chief pilot was actually the old chief pilot then you really don't know, just the facts that is!!
You & I both know that TW doesn't give a sh$t how many people quit as long as he is making money. As far as he's concerned he's having to pay fewer pilots for the same work. He's probably happy as a clam right now.You would think the company would get the hint that they are doing something wrong with all of the pilots quitting in the last 10 months. When you lose 50% of your pilots on the 135 side in less than a year, you are oblivious to the fact you are a terrible employer or just dont care. I'm guessing its a little bit of both.
Anyone know a Gabriel Capdevila? He was a Capt at Ameristar. I have lost contact with him and would like any info. Thanks!
One of the Swedes was spotted interviewing in Japan. It's gotta be bad if a swede is willing to leave uncle tom's tit.
