Yes I am. Well maybe not outraged but extremely disapointed at the photos taken with all the thumbs up and positions they were forced into. You would be pissed too if you saw Americans portrayed like that. An American's life isn't worth more than an Iraqi's life. Its a life period...
I have a few friends over there and the emails I get from them say 90 percent of the people are happy as he// we are over there. Its the 10%. Now are there 10% of Americans who don't accurately portray the rest of the country? You betcha. Think about that next time you watch the local news and there is a murder, rape, kidnap, etc...

You wrote the last sentance of your post. That was what I commented on. The last sentance was NOT a copy and paste. At least own up to what you write.

When trying to get information from POW's, the US press would rather our soldiers dressed them in suits and asked them nicely over cake and ice cream.
I think that soldier who relased the "abuse" pictures to the media, instead of following the chain of command, should be tried for treason.

I see what you meant, my bad. This whole thing just sickens me. Was I expecting retailiation? Yes. I just didn't think that seeing the video would enrage me like it did. I was mostly mad b/c it was not the top story.

Big Duke Six,

“Hooray for the senate controlling the Press”??? Which other portions of the constitution of our country would you favor being stricken? That’s really, really scary to me.

Maybe you’d like martial law declared in our country, and the provisions for a presidential election every four years dropped as well. And I don’t say that with tongue in check. Man, your thoughts are dangerous to freedom.

Will you PLEASE answer a burning question? WHY is our president and ALL of his minions, speaking out against what YOU support? Are they also irresponsible when they take the stand that most of America has taken over the adaptation of Saddams ways in the treatment of prisoners, many who were not even charged with anything other than being young and male? Why are you not demanding Bush's head? He seems to be in the same "liberal" mindset as the press on this topic.

Are you afraid to critisize Mr. Bush on this. Why? He's talking just like the media.

Where do you come up with these fantasies? Please show me one story from any news source in the world, where the PRESS said prisoners should be "dressed up in suits and quetioned over cake and ice cream" Do you know, that when you resort to hyperbole, you destroy all credibility ao anything you say? What you say in your post, is a giant, made up lie, and everyone can see that.

Now, as to your comment about the soldier who blew the whistle deseving to be put on trial for treason, that's so far over the top, it really make me wonder if you were drunk when you wrote it. The President, The Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and ALL other RESPONSIBLE people, have publicly called that soldier a hero, and a model of what most of our soldier's character is like. Honorable, and to be copied by all others in all commands. Yesterday I watched Rumsfeld address a group of Cadets at the Naval Academy. He asked them all, to be vigilant to these types of abuse, and when they see it or can dig it up, send it up the chain of command immediatly so it can be dealt with. Again, he called the enlisted guy who turned these photos in to higher ups, a hero.

Case closed. Sober up!

Instead, we have Iraqis portraying Americans in their last dying moments as their head is sawwed off their body.

Jarhead,

I need to run out to some appointments. I'd love to respond right now but I'm already late. I'll get it tonight. Good discussion.

You're not serious right?
no i was not serious at all that statement was laced with sarcasam, i feel that what happened was a terrible act, the Convention is something that our nation must strive to uphold...we can not expect these people to have compassion and sympathy...and i just want to add one more thing...

Is everyone still outraged at the U.S. treatment of Iraq prisoners?

Hey man, they're people too...like Super80, TB and the others that often argue religious topics, i'm one that believes a few of the sayings, "treat other the way you want to be treated," "Love thine enemy..." so point is we should treat them with the respect and dignity that we expect from them...

Anger can be justified.

Their response cannot.

Exactly...so their anger is the same as ours for mistreating our countrymen, as as they say we did to theirs...so how can out response be justified, if theirs isn't?

I guess I would have to wonder where you get your news from, if you are only seeing one side to it. Maybe if you are living out on a ranch in Wyoming 200 miles from any major city, and have a TV with rabbit ears antenna with only one fuzzy reception channel, and no newspaper of Internet connection (oops, I know you have the last one) I might buy your assetion that America gets only one side of the news. I seem to get it all, from many sources, originating from all over the world. I have not forgotten 9-11, I have not forgotten Daniel Pearl, I have not forgotten the Blackwater contractors, I have not forgotten any of it. I see it all. I see what every contingent does, not only in our American view. Your rightful rage over the execution of Mr. Berg, cannot then negate wrong done by SOME Americans. Please do not close your mind to all the facts of what is going on. The media does report it ALL. Unless our officials try to censor it for their consumption only.

Understood. Not drunk, just a bit sarcastic about the cake and ice cream remark. It does seem at times that the press does not take into account both sides of the story. Perhaps you are correct that taking in news from a multitude of sources is the better way. I'll agree. The thing is that we, as Americans are given a choice. It does get oppressive when you feel you have to always read between the lines. News need to be reported, not interpreted by mass media. It's up to us to make use of it as we please.

I do not condone the mistreatment of prisoners but this, if at all possible, should be taken care of within the military and not on CBS. That is what I meant with the treason remark. This stuff aides our enemies and damages our cause over there.

I'm about to help you make that light bulb go "on," Jmmccutc.

Their response was against a civilian contractor who was not engaged in harming their country, not interested in exterminating them according to a mistaken belief, nor planning attacks on large groups of their civilian population. He had not interrogated anyone and was not responsible for any humiliation. He was an American, and a Jew. That was good enough for them.

On the other hand, the people attacking our troops and our citizens here on our own soil have decided that all bets are off, and that we are the "infidel" and must be exterminated according to their "god." They have decided, as a group, to bring us a war. Instead of responding to evil in the same fashion, such as the delivery of thermonuclear devices to Muslim countries, and being nonspecific in the destruction of those people, we instead are focusing our military efforts on the individuals who are the problem elements, the ones who support the idea of killing us, the ones who want to obstruct the liberation of their countrymen, the ones who hang our people from bridges and attack the innocent.

If we drove into an Iraqi city and chose a civilian at random, shouted a bunch of gibberish about our obediance to a pagan god, and took several cruel blows to decapitate the innocent victim, that would be an equivalent act.

Instead, we are far more humane, naked prisoners notwithstanding. You won't hear cries of protest from the Arab world. This is acceptable behavior to them. You won't hear Ted Kennedy condemn this, you will instead hear him imply that the fault is somehow ours, the United States, and specifically, George Bush.

In other words, ours is a different response. It is measured, targeted, and fair. That's why it is acceptable.

Well, if the bastards keeps this up, then I am starting to think, that a thermonuclear device blowing up in their midst, is acceptable too.

Heck, we know that some are trying to get heir hands on one, well lets "airmail" one over there.

Hatred of western infidels, like it or not, appears to be a widely held feeling in the Middle East. Sadly, do not think it will ever end, regardless of what we do short or long term.

You are aware, are you not, that Pakistan also has nuclear weapons? They are also an Islamic nation? Do you really want to escalate the situation to nuclear warfare between nations, with the US perhaps receiving and well as sending such devices?

Pakistan has nuclear arms to protect themselves against India, who has nuclear arms. I doubt in the ,somewhat tongue in cheek, scenario presented, that Pakistan or any other nation for that matter, would launch an attack against the US. (Do notice I said nation, not terrorist group.)

Certainly am not seeing Pakistan beheading AQ supporters, of which they have captured and are holding a few, in reprisal for Mr. Berg.

It's started already.

The media is starting to spin this event as Mr. Berg's fault.

From the MSNBC website, this blurb:

A U.S. businessman who was beheaded in Iraq had been warned to leave the country but refused, U.S. officials said.

We must now wake up and realize that we are truly at war- with a greater of risk of being overtaken as we were in WWII.

Islam is the enemy.

Deport the enemy from the United States.

Kill the enemy as necessary.

Take their resourses by taking their Oil.

Stand by Israel.
