I just got called for an AWA interview and I am looking for any recent interview experiences (from 2005) that anyone would care to PM me. I have read the recent stuff on aviation interviews.com but I am always looking for more info.

I dropped a resume at the AirInc job fair in November 2004 and then recieved the application in January 05- sent it right back, recieved a "Golden Referal" last month from an AWA pilot and got the call about a month later.

The panel interview stuff is still the same from what I'm told. Everything you get from Aviationinterviews should be right on the money. Just have a bunch of stories ready. As far as the written goes..........can't help ya there. I had to do the "weave". Hey, at least you don't have to drop the $400 for the prep! Good luck to you in the interview.

Thanks for the reply, yes I am glad to not have to do the sim prep and spend that much more money. Got to spend the money on some shiney new shoes and a new suit instead!

Don't wear a navy suit, white shirt, and nicely shined black shoes under any circumstances. All the other stupid candidates will be wearing that boring stuff! Also, there's no sense in planning on your personality and knowledge of aviation to carry the day; so something in a catchy velvet, crazy tie, no socks, or flip-flops will make them remember you, for sure. Also, don't forget to add your favorite cologne and a mullet, or perhaps a subtle earring. Good luck!

Maybe Wingsweep could give you some more insight on what to say, but considering you probably WANT to work at America West, I'd ignore him.

Anybody know whats competitive for times at AWA right now? Do you have to have an internal reccomendation?

No more sim eval during the interview. They replaced it with a written which consists of a couple of essays I believe.

Formula 1 basically made it clear that you need someone on the inside.

Yes as Mr. Siegel put it- I believe that you need the "Golden Referal" now to get an interview. If you just submit a resume in the blind you could be waiting a long time for anything to happen.

The Golden Referal program allows each AWA Pilot one recomendation per year I believe- someone from AWA correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, I like America West! I think it is a good place to work, and it has good bases in warm climates.

I am curious to find out how many retirements there will be over the next 5 or 10 years or so- any AWA pilots that have access to your seniority list care to chime in here? Anyone?

Thanks TWA Dude, looks like a good amount of retirements to come in the next several years. I was talking with one of your 757 Captains fairly recently- he said he was retiring in May of this year and that I could just have his seniority number- If only it were that easy.

BTW- what is the guarantee for reserve/ line holders and about how many hours are the average lines built to each month?

Anyone able or willing to post the scheduling section of AWA's contract?

Reserve guarantee = 77 and lineholder 78. Current lines are around 80. Summer and December are usually "flexed" by a few more hours.

Where did you get those retirement numbers? I can't seem to find a company seniority list with birthdates included. Do you know the numbers all the way out to 2025? Thanks.

Anyone care to speculate regarding the LCC industry consolidation and how AWA might be involved . . . is this good or bad for the pilot group? How is the morale in AWA's cockpits?
