I'll start keeping score for you. So far we have, by your own admission:

-You have "Meltdowns"
-Your "mouthy"
-You speak without thought of the consequences
-You readily bash your employers in public, or worse in industry forums
-Your involved in domestic violence with kids in the room
-Your now ex girlfriend was a coke-head
-You may be trying to force yourself out of aviation on a subconscious level
-A career change is on your agenda
-You don't care if what you say in public kills your career
-You tell stories out of school about the people you fly with
-You're not only flawed, you're "highly flawed"

Keep going, I'll be happy to make additions. You really make yourself out to be a great candidate for a pilot position. Or maybe a postal worker.

Legacy Driver - You sound like a pilot I know... When I was a kid I always thought pilots were the coolest... now that I am into my career as a pilot I find it harder and harder to find normal people in this industry... sad! No wonder the "pilot" line doesn't work in the bars any longer ;)

Hey, speak for yourself. That line works like a charm for me. You must be hanging around the wrong bars. LOL

(A joke people. A joke.)

(Continuing the Joke)

Sure it did, but it caught you a Coke addict......

Hang out at the Soccer or Softball fields instead.

Single Mom's love a supportive Dad.

Ain't that the truth. OYE!!!!!!!!!! (Hey, I gotta' give her credit for kicking the habit, but if I had known that beforehand I would have passed!)

Man, is there not some really hot rich chick in need of a husband to support? I will even do my own dishes. :)

1st rule of dating ... never date a single mom!

What if she's *SMOKIN'* hot? Hmmm??? Still no?

There are lots of smoking hot chicks ... ones without baggage.

Seriously my friend it was a joke, just be careful out there. When there are kids involved a whole new aspect gets thrown in.

Might I suggest www.blowmeuptom.com for a little single guy therapy. You can listen to his show online if it is not in your city.

yup, just date the married MILFs.

Its that simple.

They don't hang out as long and don't burden you with their baggage.

Thanks. You four clowns have brightened my day tremendously (NCherches, G100, G200, and 400A). :)

"This, too, shall pass."

Off to the pool. My daughter is demanding to get dunked. ;)

For what it's worth, Legacy Driver, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. First let me say that I wish you the best. That sounds like a rough family and working situation. I can't imagine what it must be like to try and cope with that sort of thing. Best of luck and hang in there.

What I wanted to add was that threads like these really help to put things in perspective. It makes me grateful for what I have. I think on this forum, so many people get so caught up in what's up the road, that they don't appreciate the good things about the situation they are currently in. I know that I've been learning that lesson well lately. I love flying, and I have a job that pays me to do it. What more could I ask for?

As far as getting some kind of training outside of flying, I think it's probably a very good idea. It's what I'm planning on doing (just as soon as I get off first-year pay! That happens in about 4 weeks.) But I think we need to be aware that there really isn't any such thing as a "safe" occupation, it's just that it is rough in our particular career field right now, and since pilots tend to think that we are the center of the universe, we tend to assume that ours is the only industry in difficulty.
