ALPA BRP survey question

And how is that relevant to anything?

If I want to work 'till I'm 70 and can pass the physicals and checkrides,
that should be my choice.

Pass checkrides and the physicals? What a joke. All the old timers do their checkrides at the 1200am sim when they know the FAA won't be there and oh by the way, with their check airman buddy they went to new hire class with 25 years ago. And we all know how the Medicals work.

They asked before about a change. We screamed "NO!".

New sheriff....new situation....new poll.

My best guess is by 65% we again scream "No, no, and hell no!"

Spin or not--there won't be many mixed messages on the survey. The Prater--like it or not--can show his spots by how he deals with the issue. If he goes "pragmatic", well...I forecast a lot of under 50 guys will be "pragmatic" too as they seek to vote in the teamsters or an independent union in the coming years. ALPA has a great chance to reinforce that it will support the majority of its members, or a chance to shoot off its big toe and try to tell us its raining while they pee on our heads.

APA may not be able to change the rule--but at least they took a firm stand. With 2000 guys furloughed how could they not?

Should be interesting when results come out. Anyone know when they are to be published?

I think you are correct. My guess is that is why they changed the password to employee numbers on the survey. The initial results must be HEAVILY against change so they thought the survey was tampered.

I think they worded the same question 10 different ways just so they can say it was mixed results and roll over. Why don't they just channel some of that money spent on a WOERTHless magazine to fight the age 65 thing as the majority of members want. Just because the FAA says it is going to change does not mean it is in stone, nor does it mean going down without a few good swings!!!

Careful; the FAA never said that it was going to change. They merely stated that they think that it should change and will initiate the NPRM process.
There are MANY wildcards here, including the new FAA administrator. If the Administrator doesn't have Congressional coverage in the form of a law to support the change, it ain't gonna happen ... too many 60+ types are waiver/lawsuit happy.

Prater's taken the NPRM as a done deal for a change and obviously sold it very well to the membership.

Look at it this way - the ICAO rule changed Nov 06; the earliest I see the FAA initiating a change is Jan 10. By the time that the NPRM process is done, we could be deep in a recession with a bunch of unemployed pilots on the street. I look at the housing sector and expect it to drag down our economy for several years.

Is that how it's done where you work? At "my house" we have a contract that won't allow a pilot to have a sim at that time.

Check Airmen have integrity at "my house" too. If yours don't, you need to call your POI, instead of complaining about it on the FI boards.

I once had a medical where the Doc observed something that just didn't look right. Had me get it checked out. Ended up saving my life....obviously you need a new doc.
 
Mar 05--AF flight doc got me an MRI. If it didn't save my life, it probably saved me the ability to walk down the road and a lot of pain.

At "your house" you fly multiple legs a day and pay for your type rating.

At "your house" you have no pension and need to work until 65.

If you are getting a "real" physical you are one of the few.

Some people regularly start their day at midnight (at companies that have a pension).
