The last class I think we had 1 go! guy, 1 USAF, and 4 Island Air.

The mins are ATP, 1000 multi, 2-year degree minimum or equivalent (60 credit hours), internal references "preferred" (read required), and unofficially, they like to see ties to the Islands.

There are some guys that were hired with no internal recommendation, granted that was when we were in full hiring mode several years ago. If things change here and we ramp up, it could be possible again.

Aloha, UAL still working on new alliance

Executives of Aloha Airlines and United Airlines meet in Chicago this week to try to nail down details of a new cooperation agreement that could bring Aloha more business but not more investment cash.
The original announcement of "plans to expand their existing cooperation agreement and strengthen their partnership," issued jointly on May 3, was widely read at the time as meaning that UAL Corp. (Nasdaq: UAUA) would pump cash into privately-held Aloha, but United CEO Glenn Tilton has more recently said that is not the case and Aloha confirms that.

"They will earn the equity with some very tangible benefits," said an Aloha executive who was flying to Chicago over the weekend. "Some of the things mentioned are in discussion and are being explored. The really important ones like the expanded code-share are going to happen. Whatever is done is going to be good for Aloha and our customers."
United Senior Vice President Michael Whitaker, the airline's lead executive for alliances, told ATWOnline that United has not yet acquired the stake in Aloha but said Aloha would transfer the stake in return for UAL bringing Aloha into its frequent-flier program, co-branding on the credit card, and enhanced code-sharing that will drive business to Aloha.
United flies more seats to Hawaii than any other airlines. Its nonstops come to Hawaii from Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Osaka. It flies to Lihue, Kahului and Kona as well as to Honolulu. A vibrant code-share alliance with Aloha could give United the flexibility to cut back some of its direct flights to neighbor islands during leaner times for Hawaii tourism. The rest of the time, United could direct overflow traffic to Aloha interisland runs rather than adding flights or switching to bigger jets.
The original announcement of United taking an equity position in Aloha was seen as a cash deal because most equity stakes do involve cash, and because the company referred in the press release to benefiting from the financial and marketing strength of United. Aloha is known to be burning through cash on its interisland operations due to the protracted fare war set off by go!, the rival carrier founded by Mesa Air Group, in which tickets routinely sell for a fraction of cost.
