Hey guys, can anyone shine any light on the interview, questions, etc. and sim ride profile.. a little gouge goes a long way. thanx

I am an Allegiant new hire. The new base is for Orlando Sanford (SFB), not the International Airport (MCO). Indoc and systems ground school is on your own time (no hotel). $2000 a month training pay. When you get to the simulator, all training is conducted in Long Beach, CA and covered single occupancy hotel room. Flight pay of $39/hour starts your first day of IOE. Good luck to those applying. So far it has been a great experience with a strong vision for the future!

What type of routes will you be flying out of Sanford? Old Southeast routes? How many planes? Interesting.....

Bye Bye--General Lee

Allegiant info./interview tips

Check out allegiantair.com for news releases and route information. It will list the 14 - 18 cities that G4 (AAY) serves. I believe they are about to announce 2 new cities soon. That will show about 2/3s of our flying, the scheduled service.

There is Harrah's scheduled casino charters flown out of IFP and RNO. There is one airplane and 6 pilots at each base. If someone is sick or has training, the local pilots have a shot at OT or LAS pilots are commercialed in to cover the flying.

DEN: is Apple Vacations as is the PIA and STL flying. It is mostly Mexico with some Punta Cana, DR. in the past. The DEN base (my current domicile) will close May 1st due to a premature cancellation of the Apple contract due to increased competion and a fare war out of DEN between UAL and F9. In addition, Mexicana has started daily service from DEN to CUN. The capacity has more than tripled to Mexico in a very short period of time. I am totally bummed about the base closure. I bought a condo in DEN and generally have had 17 - 21 days off a month. 7:40 turns are very productive, 2-3 of those a week and I go home.

G4 also does a lot of sport charters during March madness. It is the most productive month for the company.

The MD87s and 82s are going away and being replaced with MD83's mostly from SAS. They are EFIS equiped and are being configured with 150 leather seats, all one class of service. The Apple plane had 162 seat as did the entire fleet before the reconfiguration.

Orlando is not a done deal as there are many details to be worked out. Orlando has been on the table for some time now. Many of the LAS destinations in the Eastern part of the country will served if Orlando comes to fruition. ABE was highly considered, but I think Transmeridian picked that up.

The interview: There is no sim or written test, it is mostly a personnel interview with little or no technical questions. Some situational questions:

1. What do you do if the Captain shows up drunk?

2. The Captain and an F/A are arguing and the F/A is in tears, Captain enters the cockpit, closes the door and says "check list", what do you do?

3. It is the last flight of the day and last leg home and there is a mechanical issue. You really need to get home, what do you do?

Check out airlinepilotpay.com. It has an accuratey sad pay scale. We are working on that and have an in-house group, but most likey won't change much in the near future. I am a second year Captain @ $67 an hour, but broke $70K this last year. I flew international and made more with the heavy crew/deadhead. I made Captain after 8 months and start my 3rd year this April.

My resume: Yes, I was TWA, then back to AMR, spent almost 6 months on furlough and landed the Allegiant gig. If you have my TWA business card than call the number or PM me and I'll answer your questions. I flew for AE out of SJU for 2 years and also flew at PDT out SBY before TWA. I also flew for two different companies out of YIP, including USA Jet. Over half my total flight time is in the DC9 type (6000 + out of 10,000). I flew an HS125 on the side while at TWA and had to give it up after going to the AA greenbook, then was furloughed 10 months later after going non-current in type. But enough about me and my sh!tty career progression, let's talk about you and how can I help?!

Growth plans: G4 should have a total of 14 planes by summer with plans to grow to 27 - 30 planes over the next 3 - 4 years. They company is making money while in a growth phase, which is rare in this environment. There are many things I would like to see improved and even resent, but I have been able to pay my bills and feed my family. So I guess I will fly DEN CZM DEN this Thursday, just leave the money on the dresser........and call me next week!

I have always dispised those "80 for 80" guys and the rhetoric, now I are that guy! I am making less as Captain than I did 4-5 years ago at TWA before AA came into play and that was as a domestic F/O. I'm not trying to be political, just stating some facts and painting a picture. Most of us made more a few years ago, even at the same companies with no job changes.

My advise, if you come to Allegiant, accept it as it is, try to help it improve, but don't count on it. What you see is what you get.

Good luck,

Captain Jeff Helgeson

Let me give Jeff a hand...

Evertything Jeff said is right on... training is in LAS at the Buffalo Dr Office.

Some of the cities AAY is considering for SFB are ones we offer partial service to already out of LAS.
