Flew with a guy that had G.S. on the jump. G.S. said that we are about 175 guys over staffed. Take out the guys that retire, on long term leave, etc. and that is how many left we have to cut. He thought only 15-20 guys would take the retirement deal and that the rest of the required number to cut would get letters in JAN effective FEB. Made it clear that the company take on guys bidding down to 75 hours to save guys from getting cut, "Just proves guys are willing to take a 13% pay cut". Also said it was a long term cut as this summer was not going to rampup very big and the staffing would be OK.

Part of the "special" is we get to use Alaska profiles, call outs and memory items for the type rating.

If you do get furloughed, the state/federal government my pay for this.

Saretsky's a turd. Of course he'd leap to that conclusion, rather than the more obvious one that folks would like to not see their brothers and sisters on the street.

Just talked to an Alaksa friend on the phone. Sorry to hear of the furloughs. What a crappy thing to do before the holidays. Best of luck to all.

Maybe that's why they fired him.:D

Well, I made my observation before I read about that, so that must make me some kind of genius!

(Actually, calling anyone in AAG management a turd is about as prophetic as predicting the sun will rise in east or that you are currently enjoying a frosty beverage or thinking about your next one.)
