Obviously Gen. Lee has some issues he needs to work out on his own. He bashes on Southwest and now Alaska. Maybe he feels threatened. I don't really know, nor do I care. I'm sure he will respond to this because that's just what he does. Again, don't really care what he has to say. I admit I will read it though, because I enjoy the entertainment value. Who knows what the future holds for AS. I hope we are not bought by Delta because we are a great airline on our own. If we are, well then we will go from there.

Thanks for the public service announcement. If you don't care, then don't write anything. Obviously you do care. Hey, I think you guys at AK are great, and will fit well into our borg if it ever happens. Also, you will learn our secret wink, (it happens between 3 and 5 times with both eyes), our secret hand slap (twice with back of hands, then one high five), and you will learn how we tip van guys (nice people $10 bills, mean people 1 quarter and 3 dimes). Something smells funny around Alaska's world and it ain't GL's B.O.
Our FAs just signed an extension to their contract with a crappy 1.5% pay raise, the pilots get an agreement all of a sudden, and now I'm hearing rumors that Horizon's negotiations are on the fast track. Could our mismanagers be stirring up something, to the effect of investing in Virgin America? Hmmmmmmm....
 
guys, just ignore General. he's a sociopath. he does the same thing on various threads for attention, that's all. I fell for it again, and so will others. every time he types, he looks more and more like a jackass, and I know he doesn't represent the class of Delta Pilots.

just pray that if we do merge we get to fly with any one of the professional guys there, and not this ******************************bag.

Well it wouldn't be, but that is also irrelevant. CEO's get huge woodies when they think about making big splashes like a merger would create. People would print their names in the paper and seek them out for interviews. Running an airline is always secondary to stroking your ego when you have the corner office at Angle Lake.
 
He'll be on everyone's no-fly list when/if he upgrades.
Once nobody wants to fly with him, he'll have to either downgrade or just leave the company.

Yeah, right. That would happen. First of all, I will be the "funnest" Captain out there, and I will offer free cokes and peanuts to EVERY FO I have while we are flying. I will do every 5th walkaround. I will try to show up to the plane with ATLEAST 5 minutes to go before push. I will only do uniform "inspections" at the beginning and end of the trip. I will not complain if you are not wearing a Jos A Banks type shirt on the layover dinner (they are so soft, and expensive!). You don't have to wear the hat all of the time (when not wearing it though, you must be holding it). It will be a BLAST! The "Funnest"4 days EVER!

Or we buy Airtran and make a run on the ATL. All I know is something is going on here and it's not as simple as everyone getting contracts signed.

AL buying AAI is more likely then selling out to DAL. Alaska is a very proud company. I would be very suprised if they would want to be the purchased airline. DAL would have a reason to be worried if AL and AAI merged. That would be a very, very strong company.

Really? It's more LIKELY? Where do you come up with that? I guess you didn't hear that AK and DL already set up a fairly large code share agreement that gives AK exclusive feed rights to our future LARGER SEA hub. Eventual plans include a lot more flights to Asia etc, and that could be delayed a bit, but eventually it will happen. AAI does go to SEA, in the Summertime. I guess I see your logic....? And I am glad AK is a PROUD Company. They have been too proud until recently to pay their people well. They let that go in the last week to their pilots and stews. Do you think that could mean they would give up everything else to a merger? Maybe.....

The key here is that there is very little overlap in routes. (Just like the DL/NWA merger) That means very little opposition in GOV'T. We don't have a West Coast operation up and down the coast, and AK could fill that in. IF UAL and CAL are driving towards a merger, we would have to compete with UAL's current West Coast ops.

Remember the pay cuts and scope giveaways you slobbered up as the idea of losing your job was more than you could bear? I have never gone off this board for weeks at a time. I think you are the one who has lost his memory. Did I slither off anywhere? No way. Did I run off with my tail between my legs? I doubt it. Did BK suk? You bet. I wouldn't wish that onto anyone, including you. Was I going to lose my job at that point? Nope, thanks to pretty good seniority. But, now we may be merging, and you probably won't like the terms. Too bad. If we do, you probably will not approve of the SLI. Guess what? Too bad. You have to admit that if you put aside the galactic thread drift, GL actually offers pretty good entertainment value.

Seriously though, I can't see a merger anytime soon and I have to agree with GL on one (and only one point), that we won't be merging with airtran. This is simply due to the strong codeshare we have with Delta. Plus don't they have a bunch of 717's. We just got rid of the dc-9 variants that we flew as a cost saving measure.

I don't have a crystal ball, but I try not to speculate on stuff that is largely out of my control....now did anyone else hear about 20k for Captains and 25k for FO's as signing bonuses?

Latest rumor I heard from a few different sources (different bases) is signing bonus is $24k for f/o's and $20k for Capt's. FINALLY something fair! Fingers crossed!

Anyone else hear anything?
