Alaska Airlines Pilots Reach an Agreement in Concept on a New Contract

Delta+Alaska+merger= very bad news for bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of Alaska f/O's. I know of a fellow at NW that was hired in1999. He was stapled below Delta folks hired in 2006/2007.

As it is right now at Alaska, with the age 65 thing, a person might see upgrade in 9 to 12 yrs. If you end up stapled below all the NW and Delta F/O's, you may see upgrade in 18 to 22 yrs! Not to mention commuting to ATL, SLC, MSP or wherever they opt to send you!

Be careful what you wish for!

There must be more to your NW friends story than meets the eye. I just looked at the DAL seniority list and the NW new hire class of 1-4-99 is merged with DAL guys from 10-9-2000. The last new hire class at NW in 99 was 12-27-99 and they are merged with DAL guys from the 4-16-2001 class.

There is no doubt a "merger" with Delta would have been better for the AK pilots before DL had merged with NWA. A blend into the current seniority list will not be as favorable seniority wise. Also, your seniority will not be merged in starting at the top of the new list, rather where the 738 starts in the current aircraft line up, since that is the largest plane AK has. (career expectations--airplane wise---and I know you have 739s too--but that is pretty much a 738--not a 757). But other than all of that, I think it would be A LOT of fun, and you guys could wear Sub Commander uniforms, and I could get to go to Juneau in the Summer!
