AirTran's March traffic jumped 15.8 percent to 1.7 billion revenue passenger miles based on a 12.9 percent increase in available seat miles (capacity).
It also carried 8 percent more passengers last month with 2,198,395.
For the first quarter, traffic rose 19.2 percent to 4.3 billion revenue passenger miles on a 10.8 percent hike in capacity. The number of first-quarter passengers was up 12.6 percent to 5,718,319.
"AirTran Airways is proud to set new first-quarter records for passengers, traffic and capacity, and the credit goes to our crew members, who go above and beyond on a daily basis to provide our customers with the highest quality service," said Kevin Healy, senior vice president of marketing and planning for AirTran Airways. "It is a tribute to their performance, particularly given the challenges this industry has faced, including the record cost of fuel."
AirTran Airways is a subsidiary of Orlando, Fla.-based AirTran Holdings Inc. (NYSE: AAI). The low fare carrier offers more than 700 flights to 58 destinations in the United States.

Yeah,
But how many O2 canisters will they carry? The traveling public would like to know!
PBR

At fuel prices what they are today, I don't think a 90% load factor would make money. Time to buckel down and try to last for the long haul... Nobody has a business plan for $100+ oil....

Doesn't matter if the plane is 100% or 50% full if you are not charging enough for the ticket.

Great news Airtrannies, don't fall for the management crap about lowering pay/work rules. You've got proof black and white. Dig in!! You've got leverage. Ticket price is not the pilots fault!

if a legacy airline folds we may see some reregulation. people hate jobs to vanish, especially in an election year. if the fed can justify bear stears' bailout due to economic effect, the airlines are no different.
