What we are saying is that it is what it is and potential applicants have two choices. Look elsewhere or get what it takes to get hired. This is not unique in the industry. SWA with the type and Fedex with their multiple internal rec requirements as examples. What you "think is sufficient to learn the 121 side of things" notwithstanding.
BTW Nice Avatar!

It's been good to me, so far. I was hired after 9/11 and have been a 737 CA for over 18 months, very few places to do that at right now.
For newhires today, though, it's a different story, and we have been losing about 4 newhires a month to SWA, Fedex, UPS, CAL, Jet Blue and Emirates. We have even had a few fairly senior captains bail in the last few months, if that says anything.
Unfortunately, management is too busy stuffing money in their pockets on their way out the door to do anything other than pull out the old "Eastern Airlines Contract Negotiations Manual", and it is really starting to show.
This is really unfortunate, since the long-term costs of that decision will vastly outweigh any short-term savings.
They have done a great job of squandering the goodwill that used to exist. Wonder how long before Wall Street starts to notice, or maybe they have . . . the stock is down about 25% from it's high this year.
I think it says a lot.
Um, wow! Unreal how much these guys just hit the big time, yet they want more, more, more!
There is a similar blast from the past thread that also re-surfaced on here. Someone named Ghettosomething. Now you see this one by 400Ahole immediately followed by Bob Dylan.
I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of these idiots were the same person. He (they) probably ran out of thread for the sewing machine in the basement, got tired of hearing the dog in the dirt hole barking, and decided to go upstairs to the computer and do a little reminising. Beware the knock at the door...it might be Chuck Yogurt.
I could say the same thing to you, sister. What makes you think you deserve my seat?
Hell, you can't even admit who you work for. No one takes you seriously.
Great post!What's your seniority?
I doubt many would lose their seat- unless they choose to leave it. Which many will. But the quick answer is the debatable question- not bobbi's flame: You got bought. Why would you think you hold the cards when you got bought? And you're getting a LOT of tangible benefits both immediately and in the future. Why wouldn't you be happy about it?
Now I think we're all going to get paid to be happy w/ the result. And the growth after is going to take care of everyone's fears. In 10 years I wonder how many of us we'll be ashamed we ever got so up in arms about this-
Or will we dig in a heels and let stubborn pride rule us(?)
Time will tell my friend- but I have a feeling (and rationally think) that it'll be all good.
No one's going to get screwed
Wave...I don't think he was trying to argue, but rather to show that just because AAI got acquired/merged or whatever one wants to call it, that does not in any way diminish the AAI pilot's seniority rights under the AAI contract, as well as the law.You got bought. Why would you think you hold the cards when you got bought? And you're getting a LOT of tangible benefits both immediately and in the future.
If this deal were called off tomorrow, the reaction in ATL vs the WN crewbases says everything you need to know about who benefits.
Then focus on the fact you aren't still in strike preps, Ty. Don't confuse FI with reality- the company-wide culture here is a LOT more than W-2's. And a whole lot less stressful then any airline I've been a part of. Which is 6 of them.
But then again, you might not like it.
Look at that last statement:"personally, it doesn't matter to ME" "I'm bidding 50%. I don't base my life on W-2."
So you live in ATL and have your little niche. Good, I can see how YOU wouldn't want to mess that up- but it's selfish. What about everyone else on the list? What about my friend who's wife has literally gone crazy and has gone through a ringer of a divorce and just got full custody of both kids on an airline schedule and isn't allowed to leave the DC area. Do you have any FOs like that Ty? Where maybe the extra $50k is a lot more than toy money?
What about your guys that are just back on their feet from when AT furloughed them? Think they don't need the money??
I know that AT culture is all about life as a captain- what about making life great as an FO? No big deal to you What about the guys and gals who grew up on the left coast and would like to live closer to family or wave goodbye to the awful commute?
Or is it all about Ty in Ty's eyes?
That's one adjustment the selfish among you WILL HAVE to figure out- bc SWA really doesn't tolerate it.

Wave, you need to read things in context. Some a-hole is telling me how much they would rejoice if this thing tanked . . . some other d-bag is promising us we'll be furloughed or sold off, and you come down on me for responding for myself, and not the FO's of AAI? Spare me the sanctimonious b.s., please.
Anyone that knows me knows that I championed the cause of the FO's throughout our 6+ year contract negotiations, even though I was a CA for all of it.
My point, since you obviously missed it, is that I could care less if this goes through, too. Don't think that we're all so frigging agog at the thought of working with some of the attitudes I see here. Clearly, the People Dept aren't infallible.
