AWA was a great place to work. Now, I'd be hard pressed to encourage a friend to come to work USAir. To much animosity and infighting. I'm starting to think a lot of these guys WANT this airline to fail. Amazing.

I just wanted to offer a quick thanks to those of you that replied to my question! You gave me some more things to consider and it will help. I've got two weired view points on both company's. One company; Where there is great risk there can be great returns, although working amongst poor moral is not that much fun as I've been doing that for some time already. On the flip side working at what I see as a mini-swa might be the best choice....... (it would have been a better choice 6 months ago during the first interview but I guess I only have myself to blame for that .

Quick update regarding my previous post:

"Recently a buddy of mine was hired at AT and at USAirways at the same time - he chose USAirways and I wish him luck, however I think he'd have been much happier and his career would have been ‘safer’ at Airtran. Of course, things can change tomorrow."

My buddy who's still in training at USAirways is now bailing for NWA - apparently the morale is horrible over there. I doubt it'll be much better at NWA though. In my opinion he should've picked Airtran to begin with.

Would that be "MV" by any chance?

AirTran is in no way a "mini-swa", at least not in the way they care for their employees. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either a wide eyed newhire from a crappy regional or is drunk off the company kool-aid.

I don't think I have any grandiose delusions of the place but true I don't really know how the company treats the "hired hands". My comment was based on a dozen or so pilot friends that are pretty happy there at Airtran. Over all just about every Airtran crew member that I've bumped into has been friendlier than most . I've noticed them taking a little more care of their pax than things that I have seen at other airlines. Maybe I've just interacted with your airline on the good days but I think overall your HR dept has tried to hire some very out going and or positive thinking employee's. Guess thats HR's job....... but it was also a meant as a compliment to things that I've noticed while jump seating with you guys.

Thanks for the warning though......... I'll be sure to ask at my second interview when asked if I have any questions to say.....

Our HR people are top-notch as well; there's an obvious culture disparity (and airTran's not the only airline to suffer from this) between middle-management down through the rank and file employees and upper management.

Two completely different animals. Doesn't *HAVE* to be that way but, more often than not, it is.
