This isn't 1991. The government will not allow an airline that employes 50,000 people to liquidate.

Really.....after all the stories of Golden Parachutes and Mgt bonuses after the 911 "Airline Stabilization" loans! What about Enron I think they had around 50,000 in their workforce wheres their Gov't money.

Man you are a whack job...

Lighten up old man......Let me guess your the "I like to fly standard "and then hack ever single call all the way from the marker on down......Then again maybe your not I'm just having some fun maybe he just has a girlfriend would that make it better for you.

And how much did we pay Danica Patrick to use her image on the side of one of our airplanes? I am curious as to how much revenue that actually brings in ie advertising like that. Personally I thinks it sucks as I cannot stand that chick.

Right with you there. She is not a good driver. Only took her 50 starts to get a win. I read that Japan was such a haul that several of the "good" drivers didn't even bother to show up.

I would venture a guess that this will be her only win. She is far more concerned about having a conditioner which makes her hair look just right than winning a stinking race.

Personally, I would love to see her try and switch to NASCAR-where the big money is. She would absolutely get her butt handed to her! Different type of racing, but they don't play nice-you can pull lots of stuff on people which doesn't work in open wheel racing. Just ask that idiot who married Ashley Judd. Bet he wishes he stayed where he was...

I am not saying that a woman can't be a good race car driver, but I am saying that when a really good one comes along, she probably will be much more concerned with DRIVING rather than looking like a damn princess all the time!

Huge waste of money for Da Tranny!

Let me say for the record I'd screw her on the hood of my car while my wife was honking the horn... And then I'd let her drive me home.

If you'd rather watch Dale Earnhart Jr or Tony Stewart waddle around the track, good on ya'. But hot chicks driving fast are cool.

You got that right. Hot women can do anything they want. Who cares if she won or if she drove around the track alone. Car racing is for morons anyway and NASCAR is another phrase for inbreeding.

Not to bash the Airtran PILOTS (but rather their management), about 10 month ago during the Midwest hostile take over attempt (I was for the airtran takeover btw), didn't JL or BF (I forgot now) wished the oil will stay up at $80 or more so that some airlines go bankrupt and clear the way for Airtran to pickup gates and slots?

Right there with ya'.

And I even have permission from the wife for certain celebrities - she's one of them. Something hot and vaguely slutty about her, just can't pin it down... ;)

Of course, that doesn't mean we need to spend the money to have her endorsement of our airplanes.

If I remember right, she's flying a Citation Sovereign around anyway... last I heard, might be wrong. Love it when celebrities endorse things they never do, wear, or participate in...

OK, I'd do Danica while watching NASCAR and drinking beer. This MORON enjoys NASCAR! Great way to pass the time between football seasons, golf majors, final four, Red Sox-Yankee series, etc.

Enjoy your hockey or pro basketball!

On another note, hope the news isn't TOO bad tomorrow!

uh yes we can. we just chose not to raise our fares because we dont have to right now. we shall just sit and watch you guys bleed red ink, then maybee we will rais eour prices.

You may be covered during a recession, but are you set for a depression?

For those that thought it was stupid to put Danica on the side of a plane, where did you see the story? I saw video of the application process on ESPN on Sunday and ESPN 2 on Monday about 4-5 times. They obviously had the decal waiting and pounced at the right moment within hours of the race completion.

Free advertising. Sounds like marketing genious to me.

Whats your wife look like?

Rez. TC

P.S.--If Danica didn't come from money, she'd be swingin' from a brass pole or hangin' off the back of a Harley. She's got some trailer park in her...

Well let's see, Airtran lost 35 mil. 1st quarter. United lost 500 mil. 1st quarter. Delta lost 6.4 billion!! 1st quarter. Bottom line is, it's a blood bath for all.

What's sad is that from what I read in the AJC this morning we (AAI) had growth of around 18%. Problem is our fuel cost went up 25%. Even I can do that math.

At least Anderson came out today and stated publicly that airlines need to raise their fares 15-20%. Couldn't agree more. He also stated that airlines have cut spending as much as they can in every conceivable area. Now it's time for the public to start sharing some of the pain that we all have been feeling for the last few years. About time.

BF Stated that we will curb our growth some more this year and sell off a few more 737s to improve our cash on hand position. While I personally hate to hear this because it means my time to upgrade just moved further away, at least I'll have a seat to upgrade too down the road.

The sky is certainly not falling here at Airtran. Every airline out there is in the same situation. Our numbers simply mirror the industry overall right now.

Concern? you bet. I hate to see my company lose money anytime. Panic? nah, not until I see our cash dwindling and guys being put on the street.

We're all in this together. Good luck to us all.

If anyone goes to one of these meetings, how about posting a synopsis of the discussion for those who can't make it. Not sure the NPA is going. The receptionist seemed to think the meeting was next week.

Or maybe if management wanted it public they would have released it and made it public. It would probably be responsible to keep some information private that deals with the direction of the company and feelings of management. Remember people outside aviation read these boards. If every time information that the company tells us ends up public they will stop telling us anything. Just a thought.

If they wanted to keep this info private they would not tell a room full of pilots.

Egggzactly right. ;)

Ebony is still kinda new, and a very nice girl, it was just announced yesterday, she might not have a copy of everyone's schedule.

Pretty sure a couple NPA reps are going - I called this morning to check on SBA status and they were in an unscheduled meeting. My guess is the company has probably called the NPA in advance and let them know what's going on (believe it or not, the company and the NPA still talk - they know our mutual survival requires mutual cooperation).

I've never been about burning the place down; I've always preached industry-average compensation packages and raises that match inflation and COLA. I'm glad the company is taking steps to ensure its survival, and I'm certain the NPA will back those actions if they believe they are reasonable steps.

In the unlikely event that management gets up in a room full of employees and discloses things they want kept confidential :erm: , I'm sure that your fellow pilots would honor that request and not post it here. ;)

SWAPA reps are visiting with the company (SWA) via nonscheduled meeting too!!! NPA and SWA will be in the same room soon if not already.

Ain't gonna happen.

Never say never, buddy...

Although it would be a little odd with the timing of the announcement yesterday to sell convertible notes and offer over $14 Million of additional shares then, today, to announce some type of purchase by Southwest.

Of course, this is aviation, and everything, including announcements made 5 minutes ago, are subject to change at any given moment. ;)

True, but I'd put the odds somewhere around 1 in 1,000. SWA won't be interested in buying an airline that has 141 airplanes and thousands of employees in the beginning of what is probably a recession. GK isn't that stupid.

Anything could happen. However, one thing is sure, Airtran employees will find out via the media long before anyone in management would tell us in person.

Hopefully someone will post it on the NPA forum. That should be the first place any of us look for info. I know some of us are addicted to FI, but we should be looking to the NPA forum before FI for info on whats going on. Hell, if you checked there before we logged on to FI they would get 20k plus hits each day. And thats just from PCL.

I guess you didn't read the press release about the Delta loss, which was mostly a right off. There was a significant loss though, but not as bad as you like to spin it. Make sure you put 3 !!!'s next time!!!

Bye Bye--General Lee
