" On the other side, however, you need to realize that expecting something like a 50% pay raise... is absolutely laughable. "

Really? Well, that's exactly what management is hoping you would say and think.

ALPA says it can't be done?

WRONG.

Ask the DHL guys how well they did percentage wise on their contract of ( I believe ) 1996 or so.

50% and better pay raises, immediately, not over the span of the contract.

We did the same thing at ATA in 2002. ( Too bad it didn't last. )

Expectations determine outcome. You may want to adjust yours....

That is a great example two companies that don't exist!

Yes, a poor choice of carriers, Whino. Have some better examples you'd care to sight?

Huh? Whut? Did someone say sumthin'?
Please keep in mind that the pilot wages at both DHL and ATA had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the collapse of those two companies. Pilot wages are a drop in the bucket compared to overall operations.

However, bad management is not and that is what ultimately killed those two companies.

So what are you saying, Airtran has good management since Airtran has tripled in size over the last 10 years while airlines like ATA, Indepedence, Skybus, National, and the real Midwest have gone out of business due to bad management.
