I won't be non-reving to DTW come november...just startin to get chilly...LOL...but like others I was very shocked and didn't see this one at all....can't wait to see what pops up next

With all the talk and debate regarding NWA agressively atacking Air Tran, Midwest, and ATA, rember that Northwest airlines established its presence in the upper midwest during the early days of aviation.

Over the years NWA flew from those mentioned airports nonstop fliights to many cities around the country, then as it throttled back the operation other new fledgling airlines began to fill in with their own service.

IMO NWA is just reentering city pairs that it had previously given up and attempting to reclaim its past marketshare.

Consider, that if NWA haden't pulled pulled back its hub in MKE, Midwest Express never would have taken off. The same for IND with ATA.
After buying Republic airlines NWA scaled back its very large hub operation in MDW.

Additionally, PhX was owned by Hughes Airwest untill being aquires by Republic, then NWA, also scaled back that operation post merger. If that haden't happened, America West and SWA may not have had the ability to establish their hubs there.

What aircraft does NWA have based in Sea?
For now just the A330.

Used to be 747and DC10 untill sept 11, now growing A330 base as new aircraft arrive on property and flying is transferred from DTW.

NW has an FA and Pilot crew base in SEA. The FAs fly everywhere in the system, but the pilots in SEA are on the 330-200/300. The plan is for SEA and DTW to have equal number of 330 crews.

If anyone cares about NW pilot bases:

DTW: DC-9, 320/319, 757, 330, 747-400
MSP: DC-9, 320/319, 757, DC-10
MEM: DC-9, 320/319
ANC: 747-200/747-F
SEA: 330

Common categories: DC-9-30/40/50, 320/319, 757-200/300, 330-200/300 and 747-200/F

I did hear its a great place to go running after a long day. You'll always have someone chasin' ya'.

Gotta give credit to IAHERJ for that one.

Not true. Midwest was started because of the domination of Northwest in MKE. Kimberly Clark officials wanted a better airline to commute on. Northwest was the only game in town. Midwest started and NWA has not regained MKE since. You are also losing on MKE-MSP. YX has increased to 5 flights a day to meet demand.
