Well, at least we'd have the magazine. That's a step up from what we've got now. Not to mention that ALPA dues are less than NPA dues.

What are NPA dues?

On the NPA forum, a message was posted to all pilots. The police were called to the NPA headquarters to escort union members off the property. The NPA president had to cut his trip to visit with other independent unions short to return to Atlanta. This is embarrassing.

Well with ALPA, Prater probably wouldn't have signed off on our "Give away" LOA's. All LOA's are give aways. We have received nothing in return. ALPA would provide a National structure that our Union boys need. Education is a good start.

ALPA has no power. Your pilot group has lots of means to pressure the company if you have the stomach.
Looks whats happening at ALPA carriers and see how impotent ALPA is. CAL is a good example on how ALPA is worthless. Cal is in the same boat as AirTran.
Furloughs and contract talks.
ALPA carriers= Mesa, Trans States, Champion, ALoha, ATA, Ryan, Pinnacle, AMR Eagle, Expressjet...

Non ALPA carriers= SWA, UPS, USAIR, Skywest, Republic, Netjets, American, Frontier, JetBLUE, Horizon, USA3000...

You know what... Screw the junior guys... Just fire them. You know what, thats what AAI mgt would have done. And they would have never hired any of you back. Give the NPA some credit. The did the best with a bad situation. Don't blame them for a chity contract that past NPA BOD's voted for. Have you ever seen a real airline contract???? Have you seen the current contract that we fly under??? It is so full of wholes its not even funny. Give the current NPA the benefit of the doubt. They are dealing with a contract that sells the farm to the company. Their hands are tied to an extent. THANK GOD THE TA III GOT VOTED DOWN. Let them get a decent contract that doesn't have so many chity grey areas and let them work... For god sakes, don't blame the current NPA for the usless retards we had before. Unfortunatly, the current NPA is having to deal with the decision of the usless NPA ran under AP and others before him...

Lets be real about this. Management played a hand of poker and won. What exactly was GAINED by this last LOA, Please tell. Management gave exactly what they wanted us have. The retired guys still in the training dept. A bunch of the company may's and that is it. I think it is time for the backing of a national union. How do you think it looks with what happened yesterday. The NPA is the laughing stock amid management. When you log into the NPA website you have a 3 page letter about the MEMRAT and nothing about the furloughs or displacement bid that came out today, or what does TBD "we will let you know your status in a few weeks" deal. What does that mean? The union leaders should be all over this and posting something immediately. Hello !!!!!!

UM.... 176 guys didn't get fired... Thats what was gained.... Trust me, AAI management would have fired those guys to prove a point... What, over 10-15 retired training dept. guys. Ever heard of picking your battles??? Not that I like it, but the LOA is what was needed. Firing 175 guys would have been b.s....... But our managment would have done it... And PCL 128 would have been looking for a different job, now when oil drops in the next 4 months at least he will get called back...

God help you if you think you want ALPO to represent you. They will take your money and screw you like there is no tomorrow. Trust me, I know. Been there and done that.
Go talk to the TWA pilots, they will shed some light on ALPO that will make your socks roll down. The best advice I can give you is to STAY AWAY FROM ALPA.

Umm, PCL_128 was never at risk. But thanks for your concern.

The fact is that most of the 177 were screaming at the top of their lungs for the NPA to not cave. Their jobs were on the line, and they still wanted the union to stand strong on our contract language. The people that we were compromising for were begging us not to compromise. As someone else said, we folded like a cheap WalMart lawn chair.
