US Air 190 flying will be going to Republic. Air Wisconsin is too costly (ie dropped by United) so I wouldn't count on any of that flying for you guys. Besides, CHQ just ratified a new J4J with Airways to staff the 190's.

Easy, what I think Dashdriver was getting at is that AWAC, along with CHQ and others are bidding on the 190 flying. Somehow I doubt just one carrier will get the flying, seeing how that seems to be the trend of recent.

How many regional carriers does USAirways or United have?

It's too easy to get you Air Whisky guys fired up. A lot of your guys have been showing up in CHQ new hire classes lately. Why is that?

I've moved on too.....but not to CHQ. A lot of people have moved on and usually a lateral move to CHQ is not because they prefer CHQ over AWAC as a company. Usually a lot more to do with bases near home and a quicker upgrade. AWAC's future is somewhat in doubt. I think they'll survive, but where the bases and upgrades end up are anyone's guess. CHQ does offer a clearer path if you plan on leaving to bigger things quicker though. That being said I don't have any real gripe with CHQ as a company. I'll save my airline bashing for Mesa and UAL. CHQ was #2 on my personal list when I was looking for a regional gig.

The previous new hire class was switched from PHL reserve to IAD reserve. The current new hire class is still PHL reserve, however, and have about a month before they get out. Who knows what will happen in that time.

I think there is a class of 20 or so on Sept. 12th and another about the same size planned for Oct. 12th (or sometime around then).

ORF and DCA are scheduled to be opened on 11/01. It's anyone's guess if they will go senior or junior.

I heard AWAC bid on 15 190's for US Air. Not sure how cost effective that will be...so my hopes aren't up too high.

The 190 flying was out to bid, no one knows, least a line pilot, what the details and costs etc are to be. All CHQ have done is passed a deal that clarifies with the company and the pilots what will happen IF they get the flying. I am not saying AWAC will get the flying nor CHQ nor any of the other airlines that were asked to bid. At the end of the day USAir will decide.

You will also be surprised how things are also changing. There are companies that realise that "cheapest is not always the best". I am sure that even after AWAC gave USAir some funds in return for flying their costs are still higher than MESA but MESA are going to be gone from the USAir side. Same with UAL and MESA (seen their stats lately? On time <50% completion lowest by far etc) UAL aren't happy at all but they went for cheapest even after being bitten by MESA years back.

didn't AWAC get seats on the USAir board? how are these being translated to the new Airways (ie including AWA)?

It means the same guys that have managed to outwit, outplay, and possibly outlast United are now also in the front seat of finding a way to guide US Airways to success as well.

What's good for US Airways is good for us as it's employees (today anyway), and of course for our owners as the investers/vendors. It by no means ensures that it will somehow favor AWAC in future growth decisions, anyone that believes that is either trying to start a flame war or just not looking at the big picture. AD

I am unsure about the exact percentage of ownership in the new company. I have heard the number 9.7-13.1% depending on future investments by other parties. The pie piece got a whole lot smaller when AWA came to the table. It did however retain us one seat on the new board of Directors, after emergence and merger is completed.

Dude what is it with you guys. Awac has a shot at those planes as well. I am sorry we are too expensive. We should come down to your level so we might have a chance for more flying. I just don't understand you chq guys on here. You almost seem happy that we were dropped by united. Anyway awac is a good company to those new guys welcome, I hope you like it here.

No we haven't seen these stats, why don't you post them for us to see? Why would UAL give Mesa an additioal 30 CRJ's if they were that unhappy with there flying? -Bean

One word, BANKRUPTCY. UAL isn't making all its own decisions under bankruptcy. Any new contracts have to be approved by the bankruptcy judge and it's impossible to rationalize paying a high quality airline more money to do a better job when all that matters right now is saving money. You may notice that all Mesa's contracts have been signed since the bankruptcy. Not a single one prior to that. Mark my words. Mesa won't likely get any new UAL flying after they exit bankruptcy. If they do exit, I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see AWAC flying for United again in a few years. You get what you pay for and United knows that as well as any other airline who contracts with Mesa. Nothing against the pilots there. I know quite a few of them and they're good people. But you can't argue that the airline isn't run as a cheap and shoddy operation.

Will someone PLEASE tell Jay Lachenburg at Air Wisky that my test results came back positive!

Sorry bro

I heard a RUMOR that the management guy over at United that was responsible for getting rid of AWAC has been "let go". I don't know any names, I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this?

Awac owns 15.1% of the new Usair with one seat on board. We are the second largest share holder. pre merger we own 29% of Usair with 3 seats on the Board.
