It may hurt for awhile but it also prolongs your career. What's wrong with that? Maybe you went to your airline because of promises of fast upgrades?
I think most of the guys I know at SWA (Capts) have a higher integrity level than you give them credit for.
And how many flight engineers over age 60 at places like FedEX or UPS get to bid back to CA if this passes. Should be interesting. I would think pilots at those airlines would definatley be voting no!
Then retire at age 60. I doubt this law is going to force you to work until age 65. I hope to be set by age 55 to call it quits. So far I'm on track and don't really care what the law says about how long I can work. This may cause a slowdown in hiring for a couple of years, but it is by no means going to "ruin" the careers of those under age 55.
