Unfortunately, I didn't put the poll only question up. Who ever did, set it up backwards from the original post. Sneeky jerk, probably did it on purpose just to throw the results. I didn't pay attention either and voted opposite to my opinion. Therefore, the only accurate way at this point is to continue with the text vote and I'll keep track and keep you posted as often as possible.

The question again as simple as possible with out any strange wording:

54 NAY (16 mil/38 cvi) keep it at 60

56% say keep it the way it is. 44% say the age 60 rule sucks.

Of course you can fly a 150 after 60, but why?

A complait was made that the question was too hard to understand and that the 60 rule applys to -121 ops only versus other than -91. So I worded it more simply, but it is the same question. The moderator (or someone else, I'm not sure) added the poll only question at the top of the thread and worded it opposite of the thread text question in post #1. Your text vote is therefore still good.

What's the problem? The thread-starter question (first, above) and the poll question (second) are nearly identical: Yea = abolish Age 60, Nay = leave as is.

And BTW, you should have stuck with Part 121 in your question. "Other than Part 91" would include Part 135 -- to which the Age 60 rule has never applied.

Anyway, I'm still AGIN' IT!

The poll question above must have been fixed. Read several pages back when the poll question was added to the thread and you'll see the complaints. It used to read opposite of the way it is now. As far as the other than part 91 versus abolish for part 121 is because people complained that the question was misleading. So abolish for part 121 is more accurate to say. It is the same question either way but pilot attorneys complained.

Just delete the poll question at the top of the thread. It was originally a bad question and was fixed after people voted which destroyed the integrity of the vote. The text thread vote is still good, so continue with written votes...

you've split mil/civ. But what about age. Most people on this site are fairly young in seniority. No way this forum will accurately represent either side IMHO. But it always good to keep debating.

ALPA did a poll on this subject less than a year ago. They didn't let those on furlough vote. You gotta believe that the super-majority of them would vote to keep it at 60.

Anyway, even with the attempt to skew the data to the 'change' side, the majority voted to keep it as is. About 55 percent if my memory is correct.(remember, I can't do math and type at the same time) While I can't testify to the statistical significance of the group polled, it seems that the group as a whole has spoken. Certainly it was more scientific than this poll.

Yes, I realize that SWA, JetBlue, etc didn't get to participate because they are not ALPA, but it was a huge group of pilots that did participate and I don't see why it would be different if a few more chimed in.

Why would you not want to work after age 60? flying airplanes, being involved in a business, being active and involved is part of staying young. We have guy in Detroit who is the #1 seniority guy at UPS, started working there in 1946 when he came home from WWII. People say they cannot believe he is 85 years old. Working is good for longevity.

So is regaining time with your family that was lost. Working part time, or flying airplanes for fun, is fine. Doing the 1201 AM departure to South America when your 63 years old is insane. Not for me. I'll be sleeping in and enjoying myself.

Why would you not want to work after age 60?

I've been flying since I was 15 and have given up a lot of things along the way to make this career work. I'd like to have a chance to try some of those things that I've missed before I'm too old to do so.
