71kilo, your data sampling collection method would fail even the Stats 101-sniff test. People can not voluntarily elect to participate in a survey, and provide valid results; your sampling would have to approach something like the 10%-15% range. Proper sampling would be I am going to sample by the last number in a pilots license number and skip every 100. Then you are generating a truly random sample; and then you may have valid results than can pass the sniff test. Now if you had counted all of my votes and the yes’s won, I would say you are a true genius, send it to the president for signature.

Sorry guys I should take it somewhere else but:
You are correct about this random sample meathod not passing the sniff test, but even if I did use every 10th of 15th pilot based on SSAN it would still be voluntary. They could simply abstain and their vote meaningless (i.e. gutshottool). But your sample percentage depends on the population tested and according to the text book "Educational Research" copywrite 1992 in numerous editions, and "Educational and Psychological Measurement" copywrite 1970 the numbers I quoted above are statistically accurate. I knew that dam-n stats class and these stupid books I couldn't sell back for a pizza would finally pay off. This is just for fun and meaningless anyway, but I would submit that if we did somehow get 384 votes that it would be close to what a random sample would generate.

Anymore and we need to go elsewhere but I felt if necessary to prove the numbers for the readers of this thread.

come on Mark, take it somewhere else like the "skinny on age" thread...

keep voting...

Big fat YES!

Pure discrimination.
