So how bad are the uniform nazis at SWA? Any chance you can get away with the AirTran, A2 style jacket in black, or can you only wear the Perrone? Speaking of cheap-ass pilots, I found one for just over $100. It's the same exact brand as my current brown one. :)

Please purchase the correct uniform materials. There is nothing worse than flying with you cheap bastards that wear Dockers pants, Doc Martins, and a shirt that hasn't been pressed since the day it left from the factory. If you want to command respect, them dress the part.

Actually, I prefer the cuffs on the current jacket along with the style, regardless of price, but now that you opened your mouth I'll be sure to trade my nice shoes and always pressed pants for some Doc Martins and Dockers. Please, and I mean please, approach me in the concourse and tell me how shoddy I look to my face, jackass.

There is a nice docker pant that is as good as the uniform in wear and color, however, it costs more than the uniform one so I buy uniform pants at the company.

I think the uniform police would figure out the wrong jacket pretty quick, in the form of check airman.

In the last year I've seen (all captains) wear North Face jackets, their "personal" aircraft jacket and several ladies who quite nicely jazzed up the uniform to look feminine and professional. Instead of looking like frumpy mail women. One guy was questioned by a Kernal, I mean CKA, and he just said "it's allowed" and we walked away. The Kernal was still sputtering as we walked away. This place amuses me.

Don't get me wrong, one popular option is to put on a jacket of your choice over your uniform, thereby covering all uniform identifiable items. Therefore, you are no longer, in uniform. I see it more and more. Usually Captains as they don't do walk arounds, and when you come back from the post flight walk, they are already incognito for the ride to the hotel. Harder for an FO to get away with when it's snowing. But even I have a North Face rain jacket I use if its pouring. Very amusing :)

Or when I witnessed and FO use the pullover for a DH...

Jumpseating CA comes on and says 'some guys might say something to you about your jacket'.

FO says 'you mean someone like you?'

Funny stuff.
