hey everyone. i was thinking of applying to eagle. just looking for some advice. the website says reserve for the first 6-12 months. is that a reasonable estimate? also they say you can pick you domicle. can you pick your equipment too? do they have jr. assigning? guarenteed number of days off for line holders? over all what do you think of the company? and as far as travel benefits are concerned do you know if they acknowledge domestic partnerships? thanks for any info!
Hey...........
1. Reserve length depends greatly on equipment/domicile. If you go to the DFW/SF3 or SJU/ATR, you'll be off reserve almost instantly (MIA/ATR and LAX/SF3 might be a little longer because they're more senior). DFW EMJ reserve is something like a year and a half. ORD/LGA if I'm not wrong guys are getting off reserve right around a year, in BOS it's probably a little over 6 months.
2. At this point, the whole chosing domicile experiment is in its infancy, so no one quite knows how exactly the process works, but supposedly the days of being surprised on day 1 are over. I think they'll just let you pick you domicile, not equipment (besides, year 1 pay of the prop is equal to the jet). Seat lock is 1 year, and you cannot bid prop to prop, jet to jet, or jet to prop. You can only go prop to jet.
3. Do we have junior manning? Does the pope have a bible?? In all seriousness, I think everyone except CHQ has this. Here, JM'ing isn't so much about seniority as much as it is about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I've been at AE 2 1/2 years, and have only been JM once due to staffing. The other times it was getting stuck at an outstation on my last day.
4. RSV gets 11 days off. Comp/RLF line also gets 11. Line holders get anywhere from 12 to 19. Most lines are built 80-85 hrs.
5. OK company to work for. If you just lay low, come in fly your trips and go home, it's as good a regional job as any. Our only real drawback versus other regionals is the loooong upgrade time, but with AA recalling the flowbacks and the legacies slowly starting to hire again, the upgrade time has nowhere to go but down. A lot of us are hoping that the post 9/11 crowd will see roughly 4 1/2 years to the left seat (as a TP CA). We'll see........
6. Travel benefits are good. The only thing that stinks is that AMR charges us roughly 10-15 dollars one way to non-rev domestically. But you can jumpseat on other airlines for free. As for the whole domestic partner thing, I'm prettys sure you get to register one.
Hope this helps.............
