So they DO hire folks who aren't flying as much right now? I'm an Instructor on the Hawker 800 and beechjet.

They seem to be turning away people who aren't current. I'm not certain how they'd view someone who's only instructing in sims. Are you still actually flying and not just instructing in the sim? If you're flying, that's a definite plus. As TubroJetCpt said, airline retirees who aren't current are not being offered interviews because of their lack of currency.

Well, we take .293 and .297 rides like everyone else. I fly maybe one contract trip per month. All I can do is send in my app and let them decide. Thanks for the info, though.

That might be good enough, especially with some actual flying in the airplane. Best of luck to you.

I hadnt flown on a full-time basis in the past three years. However, I sold the fact that I was in the sim on a daily basis, and flew contract trips on my days off. I think I had a total of 100 hours of actual flight time in the past two years.

I just had my first flight in the G200 this week. I had no problems. The key is to use the free sim time and keep your skills sharp. It all has worked out for me so don't give up. You can always be a sim monkey... It's in our blood to fly and travel... Don't fight it.. Someday you might lose your medical, take advantage of the fact that you can pass a medical (I hope this applies to you) today.

Good luck, So far everyone has been extremely laid back, easy going, and helpful.

I think it was a good move for me personally...
