9E hotels getting more super!

Looks like we are now staying at a Super 8 in a certain MN town. Glad the union really fought for strong hotel language in the new contract!

Should be popular with FA's and stingy pilots! Those Hiltons with no fridge and free food are so annoying!

Have you seen the hotel? We went through this a few months ago with a super 8 and it ended up being brand new and actually quite nice. What city?

Lol, yeah....not so much brand new. If it is bad (as it certainly looks that way), then we just need to keep writing it up with legitimate claims and the hotel committee can get it changed.

Do you guys really expect to be put up in a Hilton in Northern Minnesota?
If its clean an quiet what else do we really need?

As far as contract language, I am glad we fought for other things like vaction slide, One Seniority list, ability to slide between companies,etc.

If anyone one remembers the old Hotel at CMX I think we can agree the Super 8 is living large in comparison. Come on, lets find other things worth compalning about and spending bargaining capital on important stuff.

I guess I don't understand what kind of language you could put in a contract. A minimum "star" level? Rooms have to have been updated in the last 5 years? As the previous poster stated, there really isn't many options in the cities we go to in northern Minnesota. That being said, if we write it up enough, maybe we can try another of the lower quality chains in town. It happened in TVF, and we found one with updated rooms.

That's a ridiculous statement. Management is laughing at you right now. There's no reason you should have to sacrifice pay for decent accommodations. A large part of our week is spent in these hotels to rest, and prepare to take care of the companies customers and assets. A nice place to sleep isn't an unreasonable request. Now the Iron Range is Northern MN isn't the cutting edge in contemporary establishments, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try for the nicest option available.

Exactly. Idiots complain until we move from a Marriot to a rat hole Holiday Inn for a friggin refrigerator and a van desperate enough to serve as a personal taxi for no tips.

Keep selling your dignity $1 at a time. You wonder why mgmt treats us like ignorant blue collar dopes. Take a look around the airport at professionals who travel for a living, I don't think they pack enough food for a 4-day camping trip or stay at the Super 8.

Also, an on-site restaurant requirement would knock out most budget motels. Hotel language is in the vast majority of airline pilot contracts (ASA has good language for a regional we could have utilized), this is not reinventing the wheel here.

Okay, so there is only so much negotiating capital. Would you rather they spent it on work rules, pay rates, or hotels? Keep in mind that hotels can be changed without the contract by writing up issues we have with the ones we are in.
