Then why does everybody seem to bust their ass and finish 5 legs on time on day four?

Restart, you must be new here.(JK)

The last day always has the most legs. Because they know everybody wants to go home on time.

So thats why they bust their A$$!

Yeah, I'm the new guy moron. (oh, J/K)

We are our own worst enemies. We bust our asses to keep their stupid schedule on time proving to them how gullible we really are. We do it to ourselves by giving them the impression it can be done. The reserve pilots carried this operation on their backs for the last 9 months while the line holders kept the throttles full forward hoping to go home and jerk off to a $150 performance plus check.

whoa me thinks YOU think way too highly of yoself
besides waz wrong w/ a little wrist action eh? ;) :D

Maybe they'll assign the entire newhire class to CR7 FO and post no CR7 FO vacancy.

I'm ok with 200% pickups as long as they start it when they actually are short and not kill everyone for four months and then say..."our bad!"

PBS at SkyWest ensures there's very little open time at time-and-a-half. If they build everyone's line to 90-95 hours (like they've been doing here), it's very hard to pick up anything at all. And even if you bid for 75 hours, they can force 90 hour lines for company need. Not sure if you guys have more flexibility with your PBS, but that's how it is here.

Yep-

People have seen the last of 200%. There will be very little open time. There will be no running out of reserves when we are all working 5 days per week (think it can't happen-? Just wait for this summer.) Anyone manage to noodle out the fact that although we are in the slowest month of the year, they set the TLV at 75 anyhow??? Throw in some sweet 17 hour 4 days this summer-and you have instant fun! Oh, what sights they have to show you!

There will only be us flying our asses off for less $$$$. We gave them everything they wanted, and they will use it to stretch our #2 holes as far as possible.

-PBS is just one of those things people have to learn the hard way. I still cannot be we were so stupid.

He's Back!

BTW you figure out how to bid yet?

The company put the TLV at 75, but in the end after the OUR union proved the point that this would not work or be acceptable, they boh agreed that a lower TLV was needed.

It ended up being 68ish, I dont remember exactly.

If you are such an EXPERT AT EVERYTHING, state things correctly.

Otherwise...

We all know you wont.

Hey XJT guys, this person does not speak for 1700 ASA pilots.

yeh boysssssss they set it at 68 AFTER our bids went in, could have changed what u bid u think

Get back to me when you have 10 days off during any busy month.

BTW-They fixed the credits for the 4-days on the 200. That was the root of the problem-it would have made it very hard to hit TLV without doing some crazy stuff. Try real hard-use you imagination, and really noodle out what this system would do with 4-days credited to 14 hours-those are the pairings we went "live" with, and it would have been a mess.

If this were not fixed, we would have a hell of a lot of pissed off pilots. Once again-the hard way.

-The merger is giving us a huge opportunity to fix this problem. We shouldn't let it go to waste just because the company and union repaired the first huge screw-up. They never have to fix anything else-according to the contract everyone thinks is so awesome.

You are a self appointed expert.

I swear, it would not matter one bit what changes are made here, you would not be happy.

I feel sorry for those who live around you.

Didn't I hear that you the expert, messed up your bid?

Yet you come here to lecture to the Internet world.

Ok, they changed the Value after closing the bid.

What was the better choice?

Put out another email with delayed bid closing date to allow everyone to rebid?

Or

Set the value and keep the timeline as close to what the goal was?

Keep in mind this was the first time for the real deal and life is not perfect.

The overwhelming majority were pleased with the outcome of Feb. PBS, our PBS guys have no doubt learned from this bid and will make adjustments.

You guys talk so tough, yet if you actually sat in the hot seat and had to make the choice for this FEB bid, I'd bet money things would be just the same.

My bid was fine. I do know how to work the system as well as anyone. I even know enough to see the problems inherent in this system. The main one involves pairings-you put garbage pairings in-guess what comes out? Fortunately, the pairings were fixed for Feb.

I know we have an opportunity to fix these problems, but I am afraid that we will squander this last opportunity because so many of our people really have to learn the hard way.

We can do this two ways-we can be proactive and use this merger situation to fix these issues, or we can get screwed by a poor agreement for the next 10 years.

-I am really hoping XJET guys don't like to "learn the hard way" as much as we do.

I definitely see your point. It is a good one. I do appreciate the fact that these lines were fixed.

The company showed its hand. You seem to know what is going on. Do you like what the company showed us with those original pairings? I don't.

We should all recognize that this situation can and must be fixed. We can force the company to construct acceptable trips. This system will not work without good trips-and a good mix thereof.

Let's don't find out what 14 hour 4-days will do, the hard way. It would be bad.

Any assignment is to a vacancy so can't be done that way. Any new spots created are open to bid by senior pilots. All remaining openings are then filled by the newhires.

Hang on...

When I was hired, my entire new-hire class was assigned to the CR7.

Is that because nobody bid for the vacancy for those FO slots?

crj567 makes some good points, cmon cut him/her some slack. pbs good but the pairings have to be built correctly, and the pairings blew so alpa asa got onto the company and rebuilt the pairings. hopefully next month and & in the future the company will build decent pairings, and a good selection of trips beyond 4 days. copy dat?

Thanks dude-

Let's focus on how to fix this thing. I will never be a fan of this PBS agreement, that is not news.

What is amazing is that wehave a rare chance to fix this thing so that we will never again have to rely on the kindness of CT and SH, the Poopster. They would not have lifted a finger to help us under normal circumstances.

If it weren't for the merger-and their desire to make this thing look good for XJET, we would be lucky to have 11 days off this month. The original pairings would have beem a real eye-opener for everyone.

-I know many of you think I am blowing smoke. Ask your nearest PBS trainer what will happen when we plug 14 hour 4-days into this thing (the original trips were pretty much that awful)-ask them how many days off you can expect with that eventuality. It is time to go through some "what-if" scenarios and really understand what can happen. If it can get bad-it will, ASA has taken full advantage of any and every loophole and oversight in every past agreement. Why should they stop now?

-Let's fix this thing and make it something we can enjoy.

Or scrap it all for something better! Just saying...:)

The big thing is pairing construction. If we could just fix that major issue, I would actually be a fan of the system. It allows a lot of cool stuff, but it also allows the company nearly limitless free reign with building trips as crappy as they can imagine. And they have quite an imagination. I really don't everyone stuck at 10 or 11 days off per month. CT and SH would love nothing better.

While we have momentum on our side, we MUST fix this problem. If we don't we will be stuck flying garbage for 10 years.
