The company I work for is looking to hire 2 pilots. New pilots will be based in GLR Michigan and will start as PIC in BE-58, C-310 and possibly C-421 depending on experience. New hires will also act as SIC in King Airs. The website is www.northcountryaviation.net. Pay is upwards of $28k PM me for details.

I heard you guys got a new MEA approved. 50 ft AGL.
Well it hasn't been approved yet. The initial test flight as you know was unsuccessful.

Sh!t happens. Unfortunately the foolish actions of one person could have a detrimental effect on all of us employed at NKT. It is still a great place to work. The owners are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet in this business. The equipment is also great. IFR GPS, yoke mount Garmin 396 with nexrad wx. Can't beat it.

Yeah.....unfortunately it sucks when a "cowboy" tries to kill himself and ruins it for the majority of smart pilots at the company. I used to think it was cool to be a cowboy and that somehow that meant you are a good pilot. But, after a while, you start realizing it's the other way around. Those guys are actually idiots and it's the other guys out there that are the good pilots. Hopefully this guy learns a lesson. He got lucky. Hopefully the feds yank his ticket.

did northcountry have a crash? when/where?

A month or so ago up in Northern Michigan. Hit powerlines while flying low. Initially claimed it was a bird strike. Somewhere on here there is a thread about it with links to the news stories.

That's too bad.....you guys looking for anyone part time?

As of right now all positions have been filled. We had three people leave for bigger and better and one leave due to the above mentioned incident. But I am sure that they will be lookiing for pilots again before too long. If you're interested pm me and I will give you some contact info. Like I stated above it is a great place to work.

How good is the training up there? What are the high mins? Is IOE pretty standard like most companies?
Is maintenance good? I heard you guys don't have A&Ps? Just wondered bc I also heard about a gear up happening there. I am currently flying for a regional and thought SIC jet is more valuable than 135?? curious...

The training is adequate, with the assumption that you know how to fly coming in, no one is going to reteach you how to fly instruments. The mins were/are 1200TT 150ME. Mx is excellent and as far as not having any A&P's how could we possibly operate a mx department without them? Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about obviously. We have 1 A&P and 2 IA's. As far as going from a regional SIC to a 135 captain in N. Michigan, you better do some serious brushing up on the IFR skills. Other than that NCAI is a GREAT place to work. The owner's are the best people I have ever worked for. Not to mention the fact that I upgraded from a Baron Captain to a BE20 Captain in 6mos!

Is jake still flying out of there? I used to fly for Great Lakes Air at 83d and we would use north country when ever we got really busy? Always a good company to work with.

Jake left shortly before I hired on (last spring). Still do alot of work for Great Lakes. I always get a kick out of Paul!

An IA is an IA, but you do have to have an A&P for at least 3 years to get one. If you are talking certificates, they are two different things. One could lose their IA and still keep their A&P. If you are talking the person, yes an IA mechanic is also an A&P. Anyway, my impression of the point that Straightwing was trying to make....was that he heard the mechanics were mostly non-certificated, i.e. working under a repair station certificate. So if you guys have 10 guys on staff with only 1 certified mechanic, I could kind of see his concern. On the other hand, from what I know of a Repair Station Certificate, quality control is usually not a problem.

Becareful BG, I heard from a buddy in west palm the last guy they sent to the King Air lived in a camper all winter for less than poverty wages. poor kid..
Also Part 121 training is way more difficult and intense than 135, it would be no problem transitioning to flying piston...

Funny thing about that "poor kid" The FL adventure was his idea. The company went out and bought a huge 5th wheel with 3 popouts, put him up in it for free, and bought a car for him to drive while he was there. When none of the business he anticipated came to fruition, he came back to MI and quit without fulfilling his training contract. Poor kid... But thanks for the warning.

Just thought I would warn ya man. But it doesn't sound like thats living the high life man, atleast my airline puts us up in 4 star hotels. I don't think I can work for a company that believes in camping for work dude. If you decide to do it, remember to fold the awning up...

Straightwing, I'm glad that your airline puts you up in 4 star hotels, that must be your reward for getting that gear up quickly and efficiently. Keep working hard and maybe one of these days they'll pay you better than the maid who cleans up your 4 star hotel room. As for your warning, it doesn't mean much coming from someone who doesn't know what the F%^& they are talking about. But thanks for looking out for me dude....

Dude, chill out.... No need to swear and act all crazy, maybe all those 14 hour duty days are killing you bro.. if you got turned down at our airline maybe I can pull some strings for you and get another interview for ya dude. I am actually happy with my pay, almost $24 an hour isn't too bad, especially second year goes up to like 32. Curious, what are you pulling in these days???

If you think I make less than you're gear jerking @ss you're out of you're freaking mind. Shouldn't a jet setter like yourself have something better to do than flamebait people on FI? As for myself, I have something better to do. So enjoy your 5 day trip, and don't worry I won't leave my underwear on your girlfriend's floor like last time

huh, didn't think you rednecks wore underwear, its more cost effective to buy a six pack of busch light. And must be you do make less than my gear throwin a**, bc you are too afraid to post what you actually make. Its ok BG, if you are flying for pro-bono, you don't have to be proud to admit it.

Mods can you do somthing with this guy?

You're still on these boards? I'm surprised you haven't been kicked off yet. Not one of your posts contains a single piece of useful knowledge or information. Your posts are pure flaimbait and we are all a little bit dumber for reading them.
I think we all understand that you resent 135 pilots and especially freight dogs. I guess Mommy and Daddy didn't give you enough attention when you were little. Your childish antics are really starting to get old.
Some guys go to the regionals and some guys do the 135 route. Both groups will most likely end up working with each other sooner or later. Aviation is a small community, the longer you are in this industry the more you will realize that. Try not to make enemies and don't burn bridges. That guy working at NKT now could be your chief pilot one day or vise versa.

Hey punisher I appreciate your psychology or lack there of. But I highly doubt BG will be my chief pilot, unless its chief of the 100LL club of reg breakers.

It's fun watching you guys argue 135 vs 121 airlines. Both of you have it easy, straightwing tossing the gear handle on his RJ while "uhh center lookin for shortcuts" and BG thinking he's hotstuff cuz he rolls into the FBO in his shiny KingAir with a couple old codgers in the back heading on a hunting trip. Make sure to polish those exhaust stacks and spinners on the PT6, BG. And straightwing, when's the last time you PLANNED a flight, other then plugging stuff into the FMS and clicking execute?

Pffft, this really is a cripple fight. Real flying is in freight, I'd love to see either of you step into my shoes and try to transition into flying a MU-2, Lear, or Falcon, an any hour of the night, all types of weather, and all over the country, THAT would be the decider of whether the 121 or 135 experience is better.

Til then, you boys can continue with the "my regional jet is better than your Super KingAir" and vice versa.
