I'm not sure about the last 6-12 months generating movement. There are still furloughes that have to get called back first. Not that that will take long, it just provides a slight delay.

Well, I know...perhaps a stretch. I can see that in my own finances and those of pilots I've tried to emulate, retirement age never really was 60 (or now 65), you know where you stand about a year out. I think there will be a "funeral" factor as these guys see their coworkers' retirement flight party be closely follwed by a short ride in a hearse.

As I was getting furloughed again most over 60 guys told me "62 and I'm out." Pretty hard to believe that now. I heard a lot about lost pensions, multiple wives, alimony, new family at 57yrs old, new house to pay for etc. from them. Only one even bothered to ask what I was going to do. It was understood that their financial situation was far more important than my unemployment situation.

For the furloughed pilots, and I am one, age 65 took away 3.5 years of earnings at the our respective carriers. Working an additional 5 years, can not replace these wages.

I am one of the lucky ones, I now have a secure job, making 50% less, but it will increase.

The baby boomers can cry all they want. They will never to come to accept that they have screwed the bottom pilots and some of their children who became pilots.

Who well, they got theirs.

So about 300 more days till some SWA pilot's grumble about 65 being unfair and a push for 70 starts. Lifevests and depends will soon be stored under the left seat.

I think Hoot Gibson tried that to no avail.

Tell me about it, I flew for about 2 months all the while knowing I was getting furloughed. I had only one guy express any interest in what was going to happen to me. This was only after I dropped this nugget 'Yeah, and my wife is 4 months pregnant'.

Most guys were more interested in showing pictures of their new bass boat.

Got a crappy non-flying job now that pays 20% more. And a beautiful little 4 month old girl that I get to see every night.

Most guys were more interested in showing pictures of their new bass boat.

Got a crappy non-flying job now that pays 20% more. And a beautiful little 4 month old girl that I get to see every night.

Gotta love picture time......boats, cars, houses, airplanes, motorcycles. Although I've noticed more are switching from bringing pics to showing them on their iPhones, etc.
