You sure are consistant....You really think I set out in 2001 to ruin the dispatch industry? Jerk , I wrote how things went down then exactly....further, with all the outsourcing going on everywhere, do you really think this idea would have stayed under the radar..Oh please...replacing dispatchers is not a new idea, for that matter, replacing anything with cheaper costs is the standard, right, wrong or indifferent...

But Homer, I have to say, since you have been so totaly obtuse with me and the opinions of others here for years... it would be a pleasure to see your a$$ replaced at Skywest with some young kid out of school working for Jeppesen..if it happens, so be it for you pal...

I don't have a dog in this hunt anymore, I am not in dispatch, not working for any airline, dont intend to return, I'm doing just fine down here charter fishing now for 2 +years. I only posted at the request from a buddy that is still dispatching armed with this news from Jeppesen, he knew of my efforts in 2001 and asked if I would comment here as INFORMATION TO HELP as he is concerned as well.

BUT NOOOO, Homer to the rescue, you probabaly have the same attitude there at work as you regularly express here, I'm sure your loved.. and you must be proud!
Since you adopted the name I sarcasticly gave you years ago "gods gift to dispatch" you should include that you are truly "THE embarrassment of the profession"

Good luck to those here that can see past this tired old BS between homer and I. I could never get a word in edgewise with out his attacks, Pathic.

I hope the dispatchers can work this out possibly together and if nothing else, participate in molding the outcome of this plan or head if off at the pass completly, somehow. I have a deep respect for the dispatch profession, I still feel you guys/gals are the unsung hero's of the airline industry, I thought it better to have a warning of the comming storm and prepare, than to get blind sided and unable to effect any impact....

I am out of here....GL

WOW, did you forget to take your meds today?

Just because you got screwed by the industry, dont take it out on others. I mearly stated a fact. Your little outsourcing idea steals jobs from current dispatchers and replaces them with less qualified workers (i say this because if the replacements were more qualified they should have got a job by now).

ASSumptions again...

At least my meds are legal....and the only screwing I got with any airline was by you at Skywest in 2003 by blackballing me with Little Dara before I had a chance...

So let me get this right...you think I was the only one capable of thinking of this idea? You must be on good drugs!

In 2001 alot of dispatchers were out of work and Fractional flying was taking off..our mission was to bring a higher level of safety to the corporate community, in peticular the VIP jet Owners, and possibly supplemental airlines which you may not realize are not required to have dispatchers, but flight followers....we NEVER intended to focus our work at Domestic or Flag 121 operations and never did....this is TOTALLY Jeppesen's idea in 2007....

As to your final ASSumptions..as usual, the world according to Homer, your views are so narrow, tunnel vision... But go ahead, lead the others off the cliff with your thinking, it has to be right..afterall you are "gods gift"
  • Ever thought of the fact that many dispatchers, me included, dont wish to work for the sorry wages and all the other BS that comes with working for airlines anymore..since 911?
  • Ever think that many people might have roots and families with careers located around the country where they use to be able to commute to/from, but now find it almost impossible...?
  • Ever think about stepping out of your so called safety net of mother airline and working for yourself...?
I did not think so...that would be way to risky for soemone of your caliber...There are many well qualified dispatchers out here that are not looking for an airline job anymore...

As to the quality of the so called replacement dispatcher you speak of..just another stupid assumtion...Jep already requires their current flight specialists to have a dispatch license and degrees...from what I have heard, many have alot of 121 dispatching time and wanted to work for a Solid company Like Jeppesen, which is now owned by Boeing..they dont have to Commute, they make better money than of they were able to at an airline, not Union BS, very good benefits...Normalized schedules...

You probably know the old saying: change, move or get out of the way cuz the future is going to keep changing...Just look around, its everywhere, dispatch is no different, FARs are just rules that can be changed...

I thought it was a good idea for this to be discussed now, incase someone wanted to address it in future talks with management, like I posted earlier..guess not...

Hmmm, Now that you mention it Homer, if I knew I could run you out of work by replacing Just YOU, it might be a good reason to come out of retirement..

Nah, your not worth it....

To the rest of the reasonable dispatchers...no offence, this was amied and vented towards Homer, Please take a step back and think for yourself, take all this for what it worth.. the BS aside....the theme of the posts was sincere. Good luck

rvsm410,
Thanks GL for providing a little historical perspective and ringing the alarm bells on the real serousness of this threat for us. (remember he provided the ppt) Most of the professional unions are in NYC this week working on a counter stategy. Good fishing and following seas old man.

Ok, you are not going to believe this. My 121 company is seriously considering outsourcing all dispatching....Can they do this?

I have looked all over, but cannot find a regulatory reference that prohibits them from doing this.

Could anyone please provide any insight (preferably regulatory e.g. FAR, Legal interpratations, etc) so that I can through this on my DO's desk and laugh.

Hello? India?

great, thats all we need... trying to outsource our jobs. Where is the ADF to kill this mutant creature before all our jobs are eaten by the "we can do it cheaper" machine.:angryfire

So many people look at their employment with a sense of entitlement, as though it is their personal possession. I've got news for you. That job is not "yours." It belongs to the company. You have been retained to provide services for a fee. The company has no more more obligation to continue employing you, than you have to continue providing services. Just as you have the right to quit and move on, they have the right to decide your services are no longer needed. Welcome to a free market economy.

And the work ethic and dedication are not theirs, it's mine for the company. If they do not want to provide for the employee, they will not get in return. The days of the employer holding all the cards is old and out like dirt. Good employers value their employees.

Whats your point? That we will see each other in the soup line?

I was refering to 80 percent of the dispatchers and superv from a few years ago. Drinking was there only purpose in life and they would quite often showed up at work hours after leaving the bars at 2am.

I'm assuming you insured that they didn't release any flights under Part 121 domestic regulations fully knowing that they weren't in compliance with the rules.

Sounds like most offices!!!

Why is it calling the kettle black?

Because you come on an anonymous board and hijack an unrelated thread to call OTHER people "self-absorbed, immature drunks."

What is your point? If you really did work in Pinnacle Dispatch, you would know what a revolving door this place is. What that means is that all those "80 percent of the dispatchers and superv from a few years ago" are now gone, thus making your experience out of touch. If you had any clue about current issues in the office you would know we have much bigger fish to fry than a few people going out for beers after work.

I ask again: What is your point? What happened to you that you have such a bone to pick with Pinnacle that you take it out on people that you do not even know? Please enlighten me.

My point was stated in my first msg. I do not need to enlighten you and I am free to state my opinion as others do. If you do not like it, get off the msg board. You are running your mouth w/out a clue of knowledge when you state "call the kettle black"

Sorry if the truth hurts. I would make sure you are not posting e-mails at work since they monitor the dispatchers (e-mails and phone calls).

You don't have the slightest hint of a clue what goes on in our office. If you're trying to make a point or suggest that 80% of the Pinnacle dispatch office is a bunch of drunks, I disagree. As DaddyO said, some of the dispatchers go out for a few beers after work sometimes but I don't think that qualifies the entire group as a bunch of raging lushes.

Whatever you experienced at Pinnacle is not the way the office is now or has ever been. It seems like you have a little bit of animosity towards 9E. What did you get fired for?

Sooooo, your point is to sling mud at dispatchers who, if you really did work here "a few years ago," you personally know very few of. As someone who works at Pinnacle now, I can tell you your comments are waaaaay out of touch with reality.

My comments about calling the kettle black had to do with the way you call people "immature" and "self-absorbed" by spreading rumor and conjecture anonymously. How does that make you any better than what you are claiming about others? It sure doesn't lend any credibility to your argument in my eyes.

You wouldn't happen to be a recent two time Comp Check failure would you??? Hmmmm....

So, back on the topic...

I read over at the Yahoo!Group that the Feds shot down Jepps' proposal for 121 outsourcing...any word on this?

Yes, so far they have but it doesn't mean it won't resurface. I know our union (TWU) is fighting it tooth and nail.

I speak from experience regarding Pinnacle dispatchers. I left (not fired) on my own because ht egroup I worked with were a bunch of self absorbed, immature drunks.

There are other places to work at with a better atmosphere. You sound pretty immature yourself.
