The B777 Freighter is more of a replacement for the MD-11 than the 747. It is in that sense a successful plane, and part of the reason FedEx likes em so much. -

No timeline on the 400's. They like to keep that kind of info to themselves. Basically it depends upon where they are coming from. But there is a lot of pressure from our customers to add them to our fleet, so probably sooner rather than later. Which means likely in early 2011, if I had to guess. -

IMO glass cockpit time will be a lot more worthwhile for future applicants at Southern. A few guys that had no time in a glass cockpit had issues with the transition into the B777. It is only a guess, but they might start splitting up the applicant pools based upon the kind of cockpit you have... -

Cargo Flying in Africa
Rule of thumb: African ATC is meant to collect overflight and landing fees, not control air traffic. Keep that in mind, and treat the entire continent as "uncontrolled", even when you are talking to ATC. Do what you are told, but remember to do what you need to stay alive and out of trouble... -
