I've recently relocated to DC for law school. I'd like to find a GA airport relatively close to DC proper where I could rent once in awhile. I don't have a car, so something accessible by public transportation (Even if I need to connect with a cab ride) would be ideal. I really just want...

I just moved to DC and I'm hoping I can find an airport that is accessible via Public transportation (I am car-less) that I can fly/instruct out of. I know College Park is on the Green line, but I called and was told there is no rental/instruction activity out there. Anyone have any ideas on...
I am getting ready to re-locate to Downtown Chicago in January and I am looking for a place to do some flying that is accessable via Public transportation. We're selling both of our cars, so I need somewhere that can be reached on the train/bus. Any suggestions?
Yeah, i've been to the air races and they were amazing, though i've had some trouble finding info about how to get into racing. It was absolutly stunning to see those hot-rod aircraft rocking around those pylons, god i loved it.
Anyone know how to go about getting into Air Racing? I'd love to do it, but i dont know how to get started. I'm a CFI/II/MEI with about 1000hrs, so i have some experience. Any idea who i can talk to or web sites/books/anything i can read?
The way i understand it, the FSDO generally has the first right of refusal. Should they feel they are too busy to conduct the ride, they can allow you to take it with an appropraitly authorized DE. We have a DE or 2 in the KC area that can administer the initial CFI ride when the FSDO is too...
One thing you might consider doing is purchasing a certificate from someone who already has one. While you cant purchase the certificate itself, you can buy the company which holds the certificate, if that makes any sense. Some companys create a seperate entity to register their certificate to...
Up till yesterday, i hadnt put anything in mine since June. I didnt really have it written down either, i had to go back thru the computer at our flight school and find all of it. no fun at all. I'll never go that long again. Grrr...im still upset about having to put all that sh*t in there......

Consider yourself lucky they will rent it to you at all. There is only 1 twin in the KC area you can rent without being an MEI, or having an ATP with like 500mutli and 100make/model. The one that is rentable is only so because the company that rents it has a great relationship with the insurance...
Im looking to move to Chicago to go to DePaul. I've got my CFII/MEI and would like to do some flying and instructing on the side. Anyone know if theres anywhere good to look at, hopefully somewhere i can get to by the "L" or bus, as im going to sell my car if i move. Thanks

You mention that a safety pilot doesnt need a medical. Under 61.3, it states that no person may act as a required crewmember without a medical, then gives a list of exemptions. Safety pilot is not found under this list.
61.3 (c)
(c) Medical certificate. (1) Except as provided for in paragraph...
On the question as to whether or not you can buy a certificate from its current holder, the answer is no. A 135 operating certificate is not transferable from company to company. What would have to happen is you would have to purchase the company which holds the certificate. Hope this helps....
Actually, as long as the instructor is not providing the airplane, or being provided with it, instruction can be given. The rule reads "and no person may give flight instruction for hire in an aircraft which that person provides." It doesnt say no instruction.
This can be found in 91.409(b).
