The B777 Freighter is more of a replacement for the MD-11 than the 747. It is in that sense a successful plane, and part of the reason FedEx likes em so much.
Points.com is a good place to start, gives ya an idea of what retailers participate with each carrier/hotel. If you don't have a rewards program on your credit card by now, get one too.
take the time to dig through one of the airline website, look through the mileage programs redemption page...
My town is served by all major carriers too, you just have to learn how to manage your miles Amigo. Miles on the carriers you don't or can't use still count.
I collected together enough hotel points and airline miles at places and carriers I have no plans on using to have 650$ in retail gift...
CASS...?
I'll be traveling first class on Delta to work thanks to my Platinum Medallion status giving me free upgrades.
My wife and kid are traveling First Class to Cali this holiday on my miles too.
Compare this to the headache of begging for the jumpseat, or worrying about getting bumped...
That's old.
The basic questioning is geared to determine if you will be good fit for the kind of operation that we have. If you happen to already have intermational or overwater experience then that's a real plus, because it's a different lifestyle than flying short hops around the US.
My...
No timeline on the 400's. They like to keep that kind of info to themselves. Basically it depends upon where they are coming from. But there is a lot of pressure from our customers to add them to our fleet, so probably sooner rather than later.
Which means likely in early 2011, if I had to guess.
IMO glass cockpit time will be a lot more worthwhile for future applicants at Southern. A few guys that had no time in a glass cockpit had issues with the transition into the B777. It is only a guess, but they might start splitting up the applicant pools based upon the kind of cockpit you have...
Told they are going to stop at 4 B777's for now (2 on property, 2 to go). apparently some outfit called Fed something or other really wanted the delivery slots, and paid big cash for them.
In the meantime (as stated) there's the rumor of the 400 showing up, and we have been told a few...
It's not family friendly, but then again it I seem to have more time off than I did back at Brand X... With only 2 or 3 days off, and having to commute (on a jumpseat) on my days off, it always seemed like I was coming or going. The flip side to that though is that I flew in the same time zone...
Thai announced that Southern will be operating 2 B777F's for them

Are you talking about Southern...? This thread has mentioned a few carriers.
If you are asking about Southern, we are not on the CASS system because
a.) It costs money, and until Southern has to pay for such a thing, they will not do so.
b.) We don't really jumpseat. We are issued tickets...
Everyone (including the furloughed FE's) that wanted to return has done so, many of the furloughed (or vol leave) pilots and FE's have completed refresher training in MIA, and are online and on the road already. (or soon will be)
Basically there has been a pickup in flying at the same time as...
Yeah, there's a Navy/Marine version too, not a bad idea IF you are eligible. But the question is if you are civilian, what company out there provides the same kind of coverage that does not exclude war, aviation, or terrorist events...?
Does the ALPA life insurance policy...?
Rule of thumb: African ATC is meant to collect overflight and landing fees, not control air traffic.
Keep that in mind, and treat the entire continent as "uncontrolled", even when you are talking to ATC.
Do what you are told, but remember to do what you need to stay alive and out of trouble...
