Skydork said, "how are we to get a long term career at mainline?"
Well heck, i've been furloughed since 02. If you figure out the answer to that question, let me know.
You guys should have told them heck-no to J4J. (sarcasm) Then you could've just gone to MYR and faded away with the Dorniers...
Bypassing USAir recall indefinitely (which may be how long it takes them to call me back in the first place).
After the furlough went to two commuters for a total of about 2.5 years. Quickly remembered that the pay and work rules at commuters stunk. Got lucky and found a good corporate gig...
Gee..Oberstar from Minnesota is opposed to a merger that would negatively impact Northwest. Shocking. I wonder if that is the same reason that he was opposed to the USAir/UAL merger... hmmm
Boy when I was single I loved overnights. Lots of fun. When I got married, I still liked overnights -- was nice to get away from the ball and chain for a few days.
Then once my son was born... well, every minute I spend away from home is another minute that I might miss something amazing...
People are leaving JetBlue to go to NetJets. Pilots are bypassing recall to Delta and United to STAY at NetJets.
Doesn't sound to hard to figure out (if you happen to live in one of their domiciles).
You wore the navy suit and red "power tie" to the interview Learlove. If you were going to be rebellious, why did you not start at the interview? Or did you have the kind of balls that only materialized when you are safely under the protection of the union?
Seriously, everybody knows what the...
I dont care if you sling fries at McDonalds.
Give your job - whatever it is - 110%. THAT is the message you should be sending your children... and the example you should be setting for them.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is called professional self-discipline. It is the very same discipline that drives you to fly an approach on-speed, touch down on the centerline, and in the touchdown zone.
It is the same discipline that makes you take care when you perform a walkaround, despite the...
Well sure. If CHQ/RP grows that means all of the frosted-hair ipod kids can get their 1000 pic-turbine faster and then be qualified to move to mainl...er... uh oh.
A flaw in the plan
One airplane a month? (yawn) Call me when they open a CLT base for the 190 and maybe i'll raise an eyebrow. Two leg commute for the what that thing pays? No can do.
I'll go with June for the 190 and not until 2008 for Group II airplanes.
Didn't mean to open a can of worms there. Just saying might be better to be on the property before the East MEC has an opportunity to negotiate away my recall rights in exchange for crew meals. ;)
April huh? Ok i'll put my vote in for June.
I'm all for bypassing recall until the end of time, except that if the merger with Delta starts to look like it might actually happen, it might be a good idea to be on-property (if possible) when the snapshot is taken.
Ok the tables are open. Who will next spin the wheel of fortune?
Your bets please: When will the first Dec98/Jan99 "newhire-furloughees" be recalled to:
the E190?
to a Group II aircraft?
to the AWA side?
USAir was literally DAYS away from closing the doors in June of 1992 when British Airways came out of nowhere and invested in the company in exchange for codeshare and domestic feed.
Here they are 14 years later.
Perhaps USAir was days away from going tango-uniform when the group of investors...
Dork
That thing was an overengineered piece of crap. You could put a Primus 2000 in a Cessna 172, that doesn't make it a "nice airplane".
Props needed to be out of feather to flush the john. Had to pour coffee down the drain to "flush" on the ground.
Nosewheel steering was wiggy if you...
