How are crew bases determined at Regionals? If I live in a big city - will I be assigned that as a base instead of some other place in the middle of nowehere?
I am one of those types who likes to plan things out. Financially I am facing difficulties with my flying ratings because so it is taking longer to get these. I have asked people for advice and what they did and have got 2 responses:
1. Just fly at every chance you get and take out loans if you...
Are pilots consulted before an airline changes the fleet or initiates a new fleet rationalization program? Or is it just management and cost cutting?
Also has such a deal ever been put forward in a contract : we'll give you the jets you want to fly boeing/airbus/ widebody etc. in exchange...
Chicago Trib reported yesterday that ATA is looking into a line of Credit or Federal Loan Garuntee. I thought they were doing well financially? So am I just misinformed or is there something more to this - expansion/fleet renewal etc.
What are some of the things management does to harass pilots at airlines? Since the unions are so strong at majors I would suppose that management would not be able to get by with anything.
I am curious about the Chief Pilot positions at the airlines. Firstly, how is a chief pilot selected. Is it a management decision or is it on seniority?
Also what are the powers of the chief pilot. At most airlines the pilot on the board of directors is not the chief pilot. Thus I am assuming...
Any of you who have worked for foreign carriers/airlines and are willing to share the experience.
How did you get the position, what was the experience like, what difficulties did you face, how did you adjust? Would you recomment it to other aviators?
I have heard that if one has worked at an airline or done and internship with them your chances are better of gettting hired.
Could anyone give me feeedback on this.
Also I have heard that at many airlines (I'm sure about NWA) they hire younger lesser time guys as Simulator Training...
Does the airline give you the uniforms (for lack of a better word) or do you get them made on your own. I have some pilots who look real smart and professional in their airline suits while others look almost like factory workers.
So who gives the suits. I have heard at some airlines they...
For all you jet blue guys, are you buying into the company? I think the prospects look pretty good - what is the indisde word?
Also, since it is very hard to get into the IPO I was wondering if they have made any specail provisions for employees? I think this compnay is gonna fly!
Any comments!
any one know where I can find a biography of Fred Smith and Fed Ex. Am interested in what the company's first routes were, how the fleet grew etc.
Thanks
Just wondering how Simulator time works for airline pilots. Say I am already employed and a Capt. in an airline and just want to practice say a procedure for an upcoming line check/ sim eval - can I access the training simulators? What if I get into an airline as a 737 F/O and just want to know...
Can anyone tell me what the range is for the Citation X. Can it fly NY - London non-stop?
Any other corporate jets (excluding the gulfstreams ) with similar ranges.
Also what is the ETOPS requirement for the corporate jets?
I don't know if this is the best place for this message but anyway here goes. What is a good way to get into aviation consulting?
Have any of you started your own consulting businesses on the side?
Can anyone give me details on the Jet Blue seniority system. I have heard it is not like other major airlines, rather they have rotating bids and rotating seniority so that everyone gets a fair chance.
The workforce seems pretty happy. Why don't other airlines adopt a similar system.
Also...
I have read that if one is before airlines advertise for positions they first have to consider internal candidates. Recently I met a stewardess who is working on her ratings on the side - reason being - employment law which states- Any company wishing to recruit must first advertise internally...
How did they merge the seniority and the pay and aircraft flown for TWA pilots when AA acquired TWA?
Who flies what? How is seniority determined? Wasn't there any opposition to the deal itself?
Where can I find information on flying for the UN, IMF or other international agencies? Has anyone been in these positions?
What has your experience been like?
