Yeah, ours are sub 24K, but they are early SNs... And they aren't exactly full seats / full fuel kind of airplanes. They also go out of the CG envelope aft limit before they hit MGTOW if you're not careful. I'd imagine newer (heavier) airplanes don't have that particular problem though.
My...
I've been told "updated Pro-Line 21" - not fusion. INS and 3,400nm range (with a few belly fuel tanks and a gross weight increase) are a good bet...
Surprised it wasn't announced at NBAA.
Well, I had my first operational test and it's a mixed bag IMO... I only flew a few flights with it so your mileage may very.
Good:
GPS was accurate
Two Ipads could connect at once
Lots of weather available (Pireps, Ceilings etc)
Worked at FL430 without extra antenna
Not so good:
Coverage was...
I ordered one w/the extra antenna... Ships the end of April (so they stay). We'll see if it works at FL450.... If not, I'll send it back.
As far as XM, I'm still not happy with the current solutions. Many boxes and wires... I'm hoping for something like a puck someday. Of course if the...
It's delayed about a year:

No idea on who's ordered them yet...
Part 25 is certification. I've always wondered about being "certified for ditching." How exactly did they test that?
Here's my question: Your airplane is "certified for ditching" under 25.1415. Mine is not (placard clearly states "this aircraft is not certified for ditching"). It says...
We tried it and promptly deleted it... It's been awhile, so maybe this has improved, but as I recall it was missing some things I'm pretty used to. For example, after loading the ILS to rwy 6 KBHM, instead of having the fix "MCDEN" it would only have the identifier "BH" - rather confusing...
I agree that, in addition to everybody being "spring loaded" for a major failure in the sim, they are also compensating for the fact that simulators are not very good at simulating grey-area abort items. I believe (and hope) that the same guy who aborts for a blown tire at 120kts in the sim...
That's fine if it's your SOP - "Abort below V1 for anything." If you're my boss, and that's the policy you set, I'll follow it. However, in my experience, there is time to make decisions above 80kts. I've had a non-critical message pop up (in an airplane that is supposed to inhibit...
Interesting... I've never flown the "heavy iron" you have, but I am surprised that a 767 operator wants you to abort for a non critical item one knot prior to V1. Also, the reason many operators, including me, call V1 5 kts early is that V1 is the speed "at which the abort maneuver must have...
Actually, the wingx app includes approach charts, so it's $99 per year with charts. If you want those charts "geo-refereanced", you have to pay "Seattle Avionics" an additional $75 per year for that capability with wingx.
So Wingx for four pilots = $400; With "geo-referancing", it's $700....
WingX is actually $99 per year. Foreflight is $75... But both of these prices are for a single license. Jepp gives you four site licenses with each Jeppview subscription. So, unless your a two pilot operation, Jepp is not way out of line.
For four pilots:
Jepp = about $900 per year
WingX =...
We are making this transition right now as well. We decided to stick with Jepp charts on the iPad using Jepp Mobile FD for the following reasons:
1. Everybody is used to Jepps
2. Update time on the Jepp apps is only a few minutes. All of the gov chart apps (Foreflight, WingX, etc.) take...
Which one of them knows anything about what you need in the cockpit? Seriously, if they don't want to spend the money, fair enough, but who are they to tell you what works and doesn't work in an airplane cockpit. Don't they pay you to know that?
Looks like he was referring to taxiing (where most wear occurs), not landing... Lots of jets have enough residual thrust to build up speed on level ground during taxi at idle power.
