A combination of greed, dishonesty, and awful mis-management put Avantair into an early grave. Investigations are still ongoing. What a shame... Thought I'd most likely retire there.

We (TMC) have a real need for F/O's at this time. Just thought I'd let my hard working brothers and sisters at the Regionals know about the opportunity here.

TMC has the awesome variety of flying that keeps this job fun. No such thing as a cookie-cutter, routine day. Again, it helps keep flying fun.

The Beechjet? Sure, I'll agree with that. It's functional, it gets the job done. Not the prettiest airplane you've ever seen, but it does the trick most of the time...

The Piaggio? IMHO one of the most beautiful airplanes ever. Aerodynamically, it's nearly perfect. A true attention getter. Everywhere we went, people wanted a tour of the airplane. A 5'8" cabin, 400kt cruise speed... All while burning roughly 500 lbs/hr TOTAL fuel burn.(At altitude, of course).

What's the upgrade time these days at TMC and is the Beechjet the most likely starting place for a newhire?

$55K starting F/O in a DC-9 JUS, 13 days off per month. Live at YIP home 20+ days a month. CA being bid at 6 months right now

Anywhoo, the upgrade time in in flux right now due to our high turnover... Generally speaking, about 12-18 months.

Most likely starting place is right seat in either the Beechjet or the Hawker 800. The few CL-604 slots are going to the top of the seniority list. More 604's are coming, though.

Just posting to show it is a very competitive market for pilots right now and $47 is not impressive number if a on-demand operator flying aged out junk out of KYIP in the middle of the night is offering more money and almost instant CA where a guy can log that resume building Part 121 PIC TJ time. And it is only going to get worse finding quality pilots. How far have you guys dropped you "competitive mins"?

1000TT, 500PIC is where the mins sit as of a few days ago. "Competitive mins" probably aren't too far from those numbers.

No, we offer an 8-6 and a reserve schedule as well.

Is the training contract prorated?

We're paid a "daily rate" instead of a salary. Since you'd be on the road approximately 13 extra days per year on the 8/6, your yearly pay would be slightly higher than the folks on the 15/13.

As far as aircraft assignment goes, that's based on "Company needs", and to be completely upfront, I have no idea which fleet needs pilots more.

As a Dallas-born Texan, gotta say that it's always a good time for cowboy boots! We don't have any uniform-Nazis here, in fact I can think of one guy who wears black cowboy boots right now. We've also got a few guys with some facial hair.

Pretty easy going around these parts, when it comes to certain things...

Yes! Those are some of the extras that we enjoy.

When you go on vacation, you and your family travel as ticketed passengers using your miles to get tickets.

When you get to your travel destination the room is taken care of using the points that you've accumulated.

Need a rental car? Chances are pretty good that's gonna be free, too, using Hertz/National/Enterprise reward points.

Also... At my home, Santa's sleigh is fueled using Atlantic Bucks and Tailwins money from the fuel reward programs.


If you're a single guy, going to the airport to try to jumpseat down to Florida for a party to watch a football game might be a fun adventure of sorts. If you have a family, travelling as ticketed passengers with guaranteed accommodations waiting for you on the other end is the only way to go!

edit to add: If you like the airline-style wheel cap, you'll be disappointed. We don't do the hat! We DO wear a blazer from November 1 to April 30, though.
