Dear UAL pilots,

Please get your management to supply you with a headset with a microphone that cancels out the background noise. Almost all the UAL transmissions are painful to hear. If UAL pilot transmits for more than a few seconds it necessitates turning down the volume so as to reduce the pain. Maybe get something with one of the sponge looking things to cover the microphone to cut out all the hissing and background air noise.

Thank you.

One headset does not an airline make. Deep breath, deep breath. Now don't u have some avgas to order?

I love the whole low-T crowd and their ridiculously expensive ear-molded mega-noise canceling mic/headset BS arrangements. Put the $400 headset back in your murse and use a real headset.

I'm sure they'll get right on that. Btw, they can't hear the noise.

The Bose is $1183 with tax in CA, worth every penny, I sometimes sit beside an old UAL 747 captain in my local and the poor man is almost as deaf as a post, his son has to almost shoot at him when he's talking.

It will be cheaper to supply other pilots bothered by the transmissions with Amazon drone deliveries of Midol for their Mangina irritations.

I'm more bothered by the guys who don't use mic-muffs. Hard to understand when all you hear are P's and T's.

Dear All Other Pilots,

We fly planes? In which of our two departments--IT or legal?

Ok, David Clark d bag.

The United transmission are by far the worst. Sounds like no headset, hand mike in a loud plane. Horrible. Sometimes ATC can't even understand them.

Delta comes in a distant second with 'Delta's 123'.

That's because we don't use headsets like you guys. The 73 is not that loud, you guys are sporting Bose like its a 172. I'll keep my ear piece and keep using the hand mike, and keep the cash in my bank account.

Clearly a slow news week if this is the conversation.

But yes, sig, the 73 is cramped and loud - I'll save what hearing I have left and add to the Bose coffers
Pay now or pay later

So is this maybe a safety issue? Is that what is being implied? Because I'll go buy a headset if we can all agree SWA needs to stop clogging the frequency with requests for direct and can slow down their taxi speeds. Because those are safety issues IMO.

This is what FI has been reduced to, a sucky site with a few new threads each week. I think GL's jihad worked. He single-handedly blew this place up.

All the real airline action is over on Airliners.net, or one step beyond at bravo quebec delta.

Asking for direct is a safety issue? Really?

It's just the Major section with the Major attitudes on this site :(

You guys clog up the frequency, a lot, with requests. You do it more than any other airline. What I'm saying is: How about we get headsets, and you guys don't fly like pissed off teenagers? Too much to ask? Too much too even theorize?

You're going to find out (some day if you're lucky) that other countries won't put up with your crap. The EU would throw you out over taxi speeds and begging for direct alone.

Interestingly I don't hear any complaints about our radios any where else in the world.

Somehow I knew Flop would turn the United headset issue into a bash on Southwest.

I just didn't know his angle. Well done Flop!

Now can I get direct?
