Mostly... the highly coveted green slip. Granted, there's a number of assignment steps that CS has to go through until a "green slip" pops up - but yes, double pay for line holders on an off day for anything above the lesser of the average line value, or 75 hours.

Great Redclown, you have plenty of 3 days worth 19 trips or whatever, yet so does DL and the other legacies, and they are called INTL trips with two legs and nice rest breaks. You "LUV" to point out some DL 4 day trips worth 21 hours, yet fail to show the majority of your trips with exhausting multiple leg days. You try to hide those, but those trips are what your airline is based off of, high productivity. Sure, there are some DL fleets with the same thing, but there are also 85 newhires a month currently, and 5000 retirements coming that haven't really even started yet. That means quicker upward movement, away from "worse" trips and the ability to move to different fleets if one wants to find the right type of flying for the particular pilot. That is something that most LCCs lack, variety in flying types and fleets. Plus, the lack of 5000 retirements. All 3 legacies have that coming.

It's a no brainer Red, and you're watching the unbelievable upward movement from the other side. No wonder you scramble to find any unproductive DL trip you can, you are very jealous and want to try to promote an airline that is heading more towards stagnation than career acceleration. I hear there have been SWA pilots in a couple of the last newhire DL classes. Have you put your app in yet Red?

Bye Bye---General Lee

That's all you have? The same old shtick year in and year out? Pretty lame because you know DL has really no rigs. It's sad. What does that have to do with hiring or retirements? Away from worse trips? I'll take a hit of what your smoking Genny.

I told you we have heavy trips....and those pay handsomely(at Delta, they don't). You work hard, you get paid big at SW. You've been proven a fool in this thread...yet again. Told me you didn't have hardly any 21 paying 4 days. I found plenty.....month after month after month. Just like PCL said. The lines are horrible.

Why would I be jealous of Delta? Do you really think I would want to subject myself to the Captains over there? It must be miserable. I've seen it first hand and have friends tell me of plenty Captain America's.

Never applied. Never will. But as far as you and your St George bunker, I hope you get the hours you need to put in your app at DL. Then maybe you can give us the 'real' info about working the line. You're the ultimate poser, and the majority on here know it.

You add nothing. I believe Scoot, Bill and NWA waaaaay before anything you said. And most feel the same way. Help us all out and take another 'break'. Preferable permanently and stop giving the real Delta guys a bad name.

So DAL has a no $hit double time program? Like to hear more about that.

It's called "Greenslips." Double pay on your day off. They are handing them out like candy because of the increased Summer schedule and the hiring and upgrades have created a shortage. Bad WX at a hub creates multitudes of greenslips. There are also greenslips with conflict (they pay you double time for a new trip and also pay for your old one), and inverse assignments which pay double. They can try to get you via ACARS for those, but usually they have an automated phone call that asks you of you want to do it, if you actually answer your phone.

If you are a reserve and you fly on your days off via a greenslip, you get the value of the trip (let's say 21 hour 4 day like Red says) added to the reserve guarantee (it moves, some months 80 hours, some 72). So, of it was 80 for a Summer month, now you have 101 (not double pay), but if you fly so much that you hit 80 hours flying that month, then that green slip suddenly turns to double pay. You also get "pay back days" off when you get back from that trip. Some guys do what's called "Rolling Thunder" which is getting the first 4 days off of the month, get a 4 day greenslip, then get back and when they were supposed to be on reserve, now are given 4 days off. So, instead of 4 on, 4 off, now they pick up greenslips when they are scheduled off, and have days off when they were supposed to be on reserve. They end up with 150+ hours of pay and maybe fly 70-80.

I saw a 777 FO on reserve in DTW that had just finished an 11 day greenslip to Asia, doing turns between Narita and Singapore. The trip, with lots of credit added for deadheads, overlapped into August, and he had vacation scheduled too. He said it was going to be a great month $ wise, over $30K.

Thanks for the link! Lots of good stuff there.

Uhhhhhh, Scoot? That guy really is a tool bag. Bill seems to know his stuff, but Scoot? He never adds squat because he can't back it up?

Red, of course there are 4 day trips worth 21 hours, thanks to the 5:15 min per day guarantee. You always get that on a 4 day unless you end the trip with an allnighter, then it may actually be worth less. But, you seem to think those are the norm. No, they're not. Some 4 days are worth more, and you leave out INTL trips. You also leave out 5 day domestics worth around 30 hours. Many of those originate out of FNWA bases or FNWA fleets. Those guys apparently liked 5 day domestics because some didn't want to live in their bases. There are also day turns at most bases, and the choice of multiple fleets to allow the pilot to choose which types of fleets (like INTL 12 day trips) or types of trips (dom vs INTL) they want. And thanks to huge hiring and huge retirements upcoming, guys who get those "terrible" 4 day trips that you don't like won't have to do them long. You again neglect to being up that point.

Face it Red, you only bring up things to promote your side of the debate. You highlight great trips, and leave out the stagnation for your own bottom guys, and those multiple leg trips that your airline is famous for. Productivity has always been your deal, not one leg to Maui and a 24 hour layover. That's not what your airline is about.

Didn't Scoot and others bring up for continuing "Pay for Training" scheme BS before, and now you befriend them? Wow, don't get too desperate Red.

Also Red starting Nov 1st all trips will be worth at least 5:15 per day, unless the trip arrives back to base between 12am and 2am local time (rare) on the last day. There are some trips now that are worth less (3 day to Quito from ATL is currently worth 13:30 with an allnighter from Quito at the end). But, if the trip stays the same Nov 1st, it will be worth 15:45, and that's with a 24 hour layover down there and about 10:30 worth of actual flying. That 4 day I stated in the above post with an allnighter attached at the end? Instead of 18 or 19 hours, it will be worth 21 (done by 6am day 4).

Some of the trips out there probably aren't great and are junior, but they are getting better pay wise, and the junior in category get senior quicker due to big hiring and upcoming retirements. You just can't argue with quick upward movement Red. That's something you guys lack, for the next decade.

Say hi to your buddy Scoot for me. Good luck with that.

Yes we do. It's only for same day/next day trips on your off days. During busy times in undermanned categories, it's pretty easy to get one. It's much easier if you are senior and live in base. As a junior commuter, it's pretty hard to get one except in the summer. Senior in-base guys can easily get one or two per month if they leave room on their schedules, especially on weekends. It goes by seniority, but a senior guy can't get a second one if there is an available junior guy that wants it and is legal for it.

One man's "inefficient trip" is another man's relaxing day at work. You couldn't pay me enough to do those "efficient trips" that you love so much.

There's nothing relaxing about a 12hour duty day that pays 6

Sounds eerily similar to our POT system but that only pays 1.5. However, the algorithm and who gets the trips are almost identical. The super senior and/or the dude that can be at the airport in an hour.

They pay double for line holders. If you are on reserve, they are single pay, but over the reserve guarantee. For example, in may I bid to be on reserve because I had a vacation week. With the vacation, my guarantee for the month was about 84 hours. I got called for a green-slip for a three day Amsterdam trip on my days off (worth about 18.5 hours). So despite only flying about 40 total hours for the month, I got paid 84+18.5=102.5 for the month. It's a pretty good system, but definitely favors in-base guys. I'd like to see us get a time and a half threshold of 75-80 hours in addition, but there are definitely some potential unintended consequences for that.
