Called Aetna today and did some investigating as to what my benefit was regarding wisdom teeth extraction. I was told by the rep it was a $30 copay (plus sedation and any remaining deductible) as long as the teeth were either partial or complete impaction. Went for the consult with the surgeon later in the afternoon and their insurance office staff calls Aetna and gets a "we don't cover that" from the Aetna rep. The office insurance rep then says to me that we can still use your Delta Dental insurance and proceeds to give a breakdown of the costs through them. $1800.00 WTF??!!
Has anyone ever had Aetna pay for their wisdom teeth extraction?

Transition? Airtran Aetna pays far more than swa insurance in almost every case.

Airtran insurance was much better. If you need something covered, get it covered before you transition.

we just did the comparison, medical doesn't cover any of it on atran or swa. Surprisingly the dental covers more of it on the swa side , 1500 covered under swa basic plan or 2000 under the cadilac plan. numbers verified by call to HR. we are waiting until the crossover. much better coverage on this one item.

In most cases the coverage was better on the Airtran side (at least the medical insurance, not sure about dental). You paid a bit more on the premiums at AirTran, but that more than paid for itself if you had just one procedure. Out of pocket is higher on the SWA side.

More than a "bit more". The difference in premiums in one year would not make up for a lower copay, unless you go to the Doctor 40 times a year.

I pay $56 a month for my health insurance at Airtran with a deductible of $200, everything covered 100% above that. Even if the premium was free at SWA, which I know it is not, one procedure of $3500 would be more expensive at SWA than at AT with the 80% coverage up to a certain amount ($3000 or $4000?). Now I haven't had to use my insurance in years so the $10-20(?) a month I save in premiums will be nice when I cross over next month, but it's nice to know that if I need it in a major way I'll only pay $200 out of my own pocket instead of the thousand(s) I'd pay on the other side. So Airtran peeps if you need something major done, do it before you cross over.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. It looks like the first rep I talked to didn't have her facts straight and I'll be on the hook for the 1800 after Delta dental pays their share (about 800). As an a side, 2 years ago (exactly), I had my gall bladder removed, it cost me out of pocket, about 400 bucks including all the testing/consults leading up to the surgery. My wife is an HR mgr/benefits planner and she has always said that the AirTran insurance was very good.

There is some people (within their families) that may not be as fortunate and healthy as you. I do not see how belittling them changes the fact that SWA health insurance needs to improve.

I recently transitioned. My premium on the AirTran side was less for family of four, I was able to zero out my deductible through the incentives and it was 100% pay after $20 co-pay. On the southwest side my premiums or higher, $750 deductible, $25 co-pays and pays only 85% of a hospital bill.

Shhh!!! The Gimp's sleeping. ;)

:D. I had nearly $30K worth of surgery at AAI, total out of pocket expense.............$200. Since we had already met the $200 deductible, total out of pocket expense was $0! The grass is not always greener!

Now this is where I don't support the "bubble" SWA pilots can live in.

Insurance here hasn't been bad. But it's on par with what I had at my old regional and getting worse

Even if the premium was free at SWA, which I know it is not
There is a Health plan at SWA that cost $0 per month for the entire family. The deductible is $200 per individual with a max of $300. The plan pays 80% until you pay $2500 then it pays 100%. So the max you would pay in a year is $2500, all without paying a premium.

The downgrade, pay cut, higher dental and medical costs, pay for parking, pay for your SIDA badge, pay for your dog to non rev, awful buddy passes, less retirement, less flexibility with your schedule??but they DO have profit-sharing. However, SWA better have a lot of cool aid for me in Dallas.

Once again, you got a massive pay raise from the day before the acquisition announcement .

Those rates were rejectedn a TA years before the merger. Thiis has been pointed out to you many times, but you're still convinced you're looking at Branson.

Just because you turned them down doesn't mean that's what you were getting paid Sept 2010 does it? You see the stupidity of your argument?

Not much different than you telling us had WN not bought us, we'd still be working for the same rates.

red is functionally retarded. It's best to just smile and nod at him.

Ahhhh, yea... the argument that you would have had new rates even better within months if SW hadn't stepped in.

Do you really believe that, or does it just fit your 'we should have been getting more money anyway' argument?

How long until you got new rates after the SW announcement? Weeks? How long if SW didn't make the announcement? I'd say a year easily.

I'll try to speak slowly for you so you can follow along.....

On Sept 1st, 2010, you were being paid 152/hr for CA rates, and 79/hr for FO rates. Maybe not what you wanted, but that's what it was. It doesn't matter what you turned down or what fantasy rate you thought you should be making. THAT'S WHAT YOU WERE PAID. Tell me I'm wrong....

Coming from a fat turd circling the bowl selling double-wides? That hurts, haha.

I'm sorry your union gravy train is coming to an end PCL. Taco Bell might still be in your budget. Sorry you never broke the 100k salary after leaving Pinnacle. Timing and a college degree are a bitch aren't they?

Never said months Red, but if you think we'd still be working for those 2010 rates 4 years later without a raise without you "saving us", I'd like the winning lottery numbers since you are such a prognosticator. And, the actual ones, not some empty Luv blurple juice that continues to disappoint, I've "won" that lottery already.
