Any guesses at why there are more E175s on the West Coast? The answer: 717s are replacing many of them in DTW. DL gets 40+ 717s this year alone. I've heard rumors of a NYC 717 base, which may fly the NYC Shuttle too. And, Blue 1 in Finland is looking to replace their 9 717s with larger planes. I bet a certain airline might look at those. An extra 9 deployed out West maybe(?) sure would be nice!
The main reason to get as many as possible? DL has had no problem attracting new pilots. How about the Regionals? Not so much. DL wants to keep flying to mid size cities that RJs have been flying to (70 and 76 seaters), but the Regionals are parking 50 seaters and losing pilots to all 3 legacies and some LCCs. Then throw in the new hiring rules, and the Regionals are shrinking. One 717 is the perfect size to replace two larger RJ flights.
My advice to you all: apply to the big 3 and LCCs. Good luck.

It wouldn't help you anyway. There is no way you'd pass an interview.

You passed the psycho test there, how hard can it be??

Visual: Glee hunched over a picture of a 717 in his moms basement punishing his unit like there is no tomorrow....
LOL? Are you laughing about your own situation, or the truth in my post? If so, both are no reason to laugh. Go to your next newhire class and watch the no show percentage. I bet you'll stop laughing. Good luck to you.

40+ 717s?! I don't believe it. Where's your proof?
This argument resembles a 3rd place finisher at the special Olympics.
