Skip it Yip. "Expect nothing" is great.

Meanwhile if you're old and don't get what you're expecting, take what you need from someone younger. Got it.

Again I have no idea what you are talking about, what have I taken from someone younger? I always tried to give to he younger pilots in order to help them advance their careers. I see these younger pilots come to us, who have never flown a jet. They get solid training and after 3-5 years move on to DAL, UPS, FedEx, SWA, JB, Spirit, NJ, etc is extremely satisfying. We stay in touch and I consider these guys my friends. So you can see I don't get the taking from the younger pilots.

As far as "Expect Nothing" it certainly fits with posting on FI. But I am hooked having too much fun.

I agree with this. I don't like the word unhappiness, I would choose another.

Eh, I like that word. I think it correctly describes it. I was very unhappy with the situation after the SLI with Southwest. That unhappiness motivated me to look outside of aviation. I now have my own business and have never been happier, and will soon be resigning my seniority number. Unhappiness is a very powerful motivator. Had I taken yip's advice and just accepted it, I would never have really been happy. I just would have been deluded.

I cannot stand pilots who think they're trapped by aviation when they aren't
As a fellow owner, I'll still be surprised if you resign that number. Proof will be if it happens.

Yip, your generation works systemically. You change the entire playing field to benefit you. For over 200 years, since Jefferson and Hamilton were battling it out liberal vs conservative, every generation has managed to pay their bills. But your generation is perfectly content to let my generation pay off your debts.

Thanks- you don't like your taxes- wonderful - you'll be long gone to see how high mine get you selfish pricks

Age 65 is no different. You don't have the nuts or the ability to compete and take from me legit - so you use govt to prop up your under-achieving generation's entitled lifestyle- then hide behind it
Way to go

The difference is I like to fly, and hte happiness index is higher doing a job I like more than. oing a job I don't like. Goes back to wavey post above, be happy for what you have.

I actually thought about resigning it this month. One of the main reasons I didn't was that I needed to get a medical procedure done, and our insurance plan is much better than anything you can find for a small business. I paid $75 instead of having to pay 20% coinsurance. Whether I stay any longer after getting released back to flying depends on how slow the schedule is on reserve.

Yes my generation put this whole plan to together to screw you over. We did it with de-reg, low cost carriers, union driven wage inflation that could not be supported by the flying public, bankruptcy, destroyed the great flying jobs at PamAm, TWA, Braniff, etc and host of other things that we all got together and planned just to screw you over. In fact many went on the street for year at time just to ensure we could destroy this industry. Yea that is my generation. :)

As far as age 65 goes, I turned 60 before Dec 2007 and was booted out of my 121 seat, so I benefited nadda. :p

A simplistic view of unions and airline history for sure- ideological and how has that worked for the middle class- one that is shrinking to dangerous levels.

As for the subject- look at the debt you're leaving gen x -

What on earth is your justification for that? Oh yeah- blame the other side of the aisle- meanwhile- both sides of the aisle in my generation is stuck with it and you guys benefitted. Just a coincidence I'm sure
