I Had a flight booked from RIC to DFW this Friday, day of big ice storm.

I can understand canceling Friday's flight, but the flight has been cancelled Saturday and Sunday as well. It is the early morning flight, but the noon flight is also cancelled. There is a minor winter weather event in RIC for today, but nothing really bad. Has AA gotten to be such a bunch of poossies they are afraid to fly?

Personally I hate AA and would fly someone else, but my options are limited, and I think all airlines suck.

I don't see why your options are limited out of RIC to DFW..... I think you are limiting yourself.
All airlines suck???? Get you arse on the Grey Hound or AmTrack Bitch....... Until then have a coke and smile.

WSURF, your answer is a reason a lot of people don't bother with these message boards, my question was 75% legitimate with 25% opinion, but an opinion most people would probably agree with. I was not complete in my original question, I then connect to Podunk FSM, which is only served by Delta and American. I also have a boatload of miles. But you obviously know nothing and can't answer the question, so shut up.

Flopgut, I would have driven to FSM, been there and in office working if I would have known it would be such a cluster from Friday's legitimate cancellations. I am still asking why all of Saturday and Sunday flights were cancelled?

I understand the reason for cancellations to avoid the massive problems that occur when flights leave airplanes out of position and people stranded in connecting airports due to bad weather. I don't see the connection after 2 days of decent weather.

one of the questions is have you failed a checkride and how many. Unfortunately I have failed 5, CFI, CFII, initial 135 SIC in a metro, and the ugly, ugly one captain upgrade in a metro
You appear to be in the wrong profession then, maybe plumber, or Directv installer?

So you are going to lecture me on why a bunch of people don't bother with this message board while at the same time saying AA Sucks and pretty much every Airline suck???? Ni&&a Pleeeeeeeeaaaasssssseeee!!!

Don't come on her slamming airlines by saying you hate AA and all airlines suck and expect a sweet rosy answer to a question.

What did you expect!!! If you ask a question like a professional then maybe you'll get a professional answer.

It could be that it still isn't above freezing in the Metroplex and hasn't been since Thursday afternoon. The roads are still sheets of ice and conditions are still extremely dangerous. They're warning everyone to stay off the roads. Maybe people can't get to the airport to provide the necessary service to get the aircraft to Richmond for you. Ice is no joke, especially in North Texas where we don't have the equipment to deal with a freak storm like this. Highly doubt the fact you can't get on the plane is because AA is scared to fly. Their biggest hub has essentially been shut down for 3 days. Grow up.

The actual weather did prove to be better than the forecast had indicated in a number of areas. However, AA is trying to avoid having you stuck in a terminal halfway thru your trip. You might recall NWA had a debacle in Detroit a number of years ago that resulted in the "passenger bill of rights". No airline wants that to happen again, so they make sure plenty of flights are cancelled.

Frankly, you had a lot more options out of the RIC area than you're acknowledging, you just have to make an honest effort. Waiting for the airline to make it easy for you really isn't right in this situation.
