BTW as posted many times, I am not anti-union only a couple time unemployed former union airline pilot known as a Union realist.
 
What if the JetBlue pilot doesn't like ALPA's colossal out of touch with reality today? What if that JetBlue came from a regional where LM basically told regionals to suck it up and take paycuts? I don't expect them to like ALPA by any means after that.

Sigh. The DR has netted 2500 pilots below average pay and benefits. The DR is a fraud and provides no representation in anyway, shape, or form. Hope that uncle Dave will give you more is a poor plan. If you work for Blujet you no longer work for that regional. Move on.
 
Without unionized pilots negotiating a higher pay rate there wouldn't even be a discussion of a higher pay scale.

Meanwhile, we have THE WORST HEALTH INSURANCE in the industry.

For those that don't support the union drive: Enjoy Obamacare, because it's coming.

but but but, I thought at the AFL/CIO convention the unios were dead set against ACA?

Randy, you're a good guy and we have much in common. I too, love to fly, but some companies take advantage of that.
A company that is making record profits and cutting employee compensation/benefits has some "spainin'" to do.
I do my best on many levels for my employer. That motivation is a one-way check valve.
 
The last three years in a row I have made less money on my w2 even though for the last three years we have received a " raise " This past year was $8000 less this year will be closer to $11,000 less

My out of pocket expense for insurance ytd is $5400 higher than last year. There has been no catastrophic events and the treatment my son receives has not changed. This is not including premiums because my blue care 1 was nearly identical in cost to the green plan. ( however the bluecare 3 that the green plan is based on was only $50 a month ) so technically they raised premiums 600% and reduced coverage.

This year i am averaging 1.2 days per month more a work.. Thats just about two weeks more time away at home to work for less money.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is happening here.

Now they want to toss us a raise over three years with numerous give aways and no pvc recommended changes included even though nearly a dozen recommendations were zero or low cost to the company IF we truly intend to " Grow Organically " as they have said so many times.

So they wont give us protections in the event of a merger BUT mgmt has already changed their contracts awarding all bonuses and overrides in the event of a transactional event or merger.

Things that make you go hmmmmm

so a $16k hit and another 14 days at work.. Thats just for a guy that has never picked up an rsa mid level sen capt that barely ever picks up flying and has never sold 1 hour of pto because it gets used as a qol enhancement not a pay raise.

Plus we dont even knows whats on the horizon in the near future

Wait for the " we got our problems but let me be clear this is a good job " crowd they will be along shortly..

If you never pick up flying, which makes you more of a min schedule guy, how are you making so much less money?

healthcare is a large portion of it but just a couple years ago the 16 hour 4 day didnt exist neither did 10 hour three days or even 21 hour 4 days.

The BAD trips were 23 hr trips and the good ones were 26 to 29 hr 4 days.. Plus you didnt need to be senior to get them.

We also had 13:30's two of those back to back were 27 hrs,, now they are 10-11 hrs trips with night overide.. ill take 27hrs vs 22 any day of the week. Almost forgot about the extra $65 of night override to make up for the $750 of lost pay..

These are just two examples add in reductions in productivity, lower bid divisiors, productivity sits, aggressive pick up the list goes on and they all add up to a lower w2
 
Per Rob, 25% of the LGB pairings are 10.5 or 11 hour 3-days.

What time do they usually start and end? Sorry, I'm a 190 guy, our 3 days are 15 hours, so I don't know exactly what you are dealing with.

We do NEED a daily rig, without the "average" and "duty period" loopholes...

A typical 10 to 11 hour 3 day trip is simply a 2 leg 3 day transcon trip. It departs on the East coast in the evening and arrives on the West coast later that same night (day 1). Approximately 24 hours later, it departs the West coast late evening on day 2 and arrives on the East coast early morning on day 3. JFK has plenty of these trips. They are extremely unproductive. Many years ago, these trips went senior because they were credited at 13:30. Eventually the company decided to take away the 13:30 credit, and replace it with a night over ride which doesn't come close to the 13:30 credit, and saves the company a lot of money. This is just one example of how the company can change our work rules and there is nothing we can do about it.......that is unless we attain a CBA.

For LGB crews its a redeye to the east coast (IAD). 24 hour layover with a 6am (3am body clock) departure back to the west coast.
